cost,insteadofonestudent'stuition.Whilehesayscollegesareworththemoneyinthelong
run,theyrestilltryingtomakeaprofit.

tuitionis.Collegestudentswhosefamiliesmakesoverabout$50,000arebeingtoldatpublic
institutions,thattheymustpaythefullprice.Baummentionsthatstudentsandparentsshould
attempttotakeadvantageofasmuchfinancialaidorscholarshipsthatareavailable,andthat
theapplicationprocessisnotsomethingthatshouldbesavedtillthelastminute.Itisan
importantprocessthatneedstobedonecorrectly.

tuitionhasdoubledalmostthreetimessince1980,andtodaysstudentloandebtisabout$1

asfacilities,andathleticstobringthecollegemorerevenue.Universitiesarebigbusinessthat
makeonlyafractionoftotalprofitfromstudenttuition.

articleultimatelyarguethatforStudentAidtomakeasignificantimpactonlowincomestudent
enrollment,thefederalgovernmentmustincreasetheamountofgrantsinordertocompensate
