Some are black and some are

white,
Some are wrong and some are
right,

Los hay negros, los hay blancos.

Los hay falsos, los hay francos.

Some get rich

and some stay poor,

Los hay pobres,

los hay ricos.

Some make peace

and some make war.

Hay violentos
y hay pacficos.

Some are yellow,

some are brown,
Some are up and
some are down,

Hay amarillos
y hay morenos.
Los hay malos,
los hay buenos.

Some go far, some fall behind,

Unos flotan, otros naufragan.

Some are mean and some are kind.

Unos llegan lejos, otros se rezagan.

Some are reds

and some are greens,
Some stay quiet,
some make scenes,

Los hay verdes,

los hay rojos.
Los hay activos,
los hay flojos.

Some say yes and some say no,

Some will tell you where to go.

Unos dicen que s, otros que no

Y otros son como un yoy.

But underneath our different skin,

The same heart beats, deep within.
For brothers, sisters all are we,
Meant to live in harmony.

Ms all de clases y razas,

un mismo espritu nos enlaza.
Indios, europeos o africanos,
somos iguales, somos hermanos.

Sizing Up the Elephant

El elefante visto por los ciegos

There is an Indian fable

about six blind men who
encountered an elephant
for the first time.

Reza una fbula hind que

cierto da seis ciegos se
toparon por primera vez
con un elefante.

One man felt

the
elephant's
leg and said,
"An elephant
is like a tree.

Uno lo
agarr por
una pata y
declar: El
elefante es
como un
rbol.

Another grasped his

tail and said, "No, an
elephant is like a
rope.

Otro tom al
paquidermo por la
cola y dijo: No, el
elefante se parece a
una soga.

The third bumped into the

elephant's broad side and said,
"I'm telling you, an elephant is like
a wall."

El tercero le palp el
costado y exclam: Les
aseguro que el elefante es
como un muro.

The fourth man felt

an ear, smiled, and
said, "Ah, I am now
aware that the
elephant is like a
leaf."

El cuarto desliz su
mano por una de las
orejas del animal y
anunci: No, seores,
el elefante es semejante
a una hoja.

The fifth man

grabbed one of the
elephant's smooth,
sharp tusks and
declared, "The
elephant is
definitely like a
spear!

El quinto toc uno

de los agudos
colmillos del
paquidermo y
declar: Sin duda
el elefante es como
una lanza.

The sixth man

caught hold of the
elephant's trunk
and said, "You're
all wrong! An
elephant is like a
snake.

El sexto lo agarr
por la trompa y
afirm: Todos
ustedes se
equivocan. El
elefante se parece
a una serpiente.

They were all right, but

none of them was
completely right or the only
one who was right.
We laugh, but we have all
jumped to conclusions
when we only saw part of
the "elephant."

Result que todos tenan

algo de razn, pero ninguno
acert del todo.
Nos remos, pero todos
hemos sacado conclusiones
equivocadas por haber visto
solamente una parte del
elefante.

What a wonderful world it would be if the

only thing we saw when we looked at
others was lovethe color of love.
Michael Roy

- Michael Roy

I say that we should regard all men as our

brothers. What? The Turk my brother? The
Chinaman my brother? The Jew? The
Siam? Yes, without doubt; are we not all
children of the same father and creatures
of the same God?Voltaire

Cmo!
El turco hermano mo? El chino mi
hermano? El judo? El siams? S, sin
duda; no somos todos hijos del mismo
Padre, criaturas del mismo Dios? - Voltaire

If you try to make your circle closed and

exclusively yours, it never grows very
much. Only a circle that has lots of room
for anybody who needs it has enough
spare space to hold any real magic.
Zilpha Keatley Snyder

Zilpha Keatley Snyder

If you approach each new person you

meet in a spirit of adventure, you will find
yourself endlessly fascinated by the new
channels of thought and experience and
personality that you encounter.
Eleanor Roosevelt

encontrars permanentemente fascinado
por los nuevos cauces de pensamiento, de
experiencia y de personalidad que

If you judge people, you have no time to

love them. Mother Teresa

Si te dedicas a juzgar a los dems no tendrs

tiempo para amarlos. Madre Teresa

In everything, do to others what you

would have them do to you.
