1. Wood Flooring
TYPES:
Wood flooring is the classic option and it comes in oak, maple, and
bamboo
Properties:
a. With proper care and maintenance,
wood floors can last a long time.
b. Cleaning wooden floors only
require sweeping and the
application of polishing shine
solution while scrubbing from time
to time.
Installation:
Solid hardwoods will need to be nailed into place, which
means that a wood subfloor is required.
Uses: Living Room and Bedrooms. Not suitable for
kitchens, toliets and basements.
2. Tile Flooring
Tile flooring come in various types like ceramic,
porcelain, quarry, and mosaic.
Properties:
a. When tiles are glazed, they can be stain-resistant.
b. It shares the same quality of heat resistance with
stone floors and as such they can be used near
fireplaces, furnaces, and stoves as well.

3. Stone Flooring
Since there are different kinds of stones, natural stone tiles
also come in different types like limestone, clay, granite,
pebble, sandstone, slate, travertine, Kota stone, Granite,
Sand stone
properties:
They are generally durable and provide an unmatched
elegance to your homes interiors. Stone floors can also
withstand high temperatures .

Suitability:
a. suitable to be placed near sources of radiant heating like
fireplaces, stoves, or furnaces.
b. Many of these are suitable for providing floors in
residential construction. Stones suited for the purpose
should be strong and able to resist abrasion and impact
besides giving a pleasing appearance.
.Techniques: polished tiles are set on the floor with
cement.
4. Laminate Flooring
Laminate flooring presents itself as an option for those who want to
capture the grandeur of wood or stone without breaking the bank.
Properties:
a. Laminate is hardy and will show no signs of fading or stains for a
decade.
b. It is not easily affected by moisture like wood and it will require
less care than authentic wood or stone flooring.
c. Clean-up consists only of brooming away dust and dirt and
mopping.
Installation\techniques:
Interlocking laminate floating floors can be installed over
clean and level ceramic, vinyl, concrete or plywood / OSB
subflooring. Typically, laminate flooring cannot be installed
in rooms with a floor drain.
Suitability: most common in residential spaces.

5. Concrete flooring
Properties: They are know for durability and are easy to
maintain, versatile, environmental friendly and long lasting.

6. TerrazzoFlooring
It is a type of flooring and should be treated asmarblein a
maintenance program. Terrazzo is a composite material
poured in place or precast, which is used for floor and all
treatments.
INSTALLATON: Cementis used to fix it onto the floor.
Suitability:
Terrazzo is quite slippery and can cause falls, so it may not
be a good flooring choice for families with especially young
or elderly members.
