This assessment has learned me a lot. We learned how to make a

video for the first time and how to edit it, but it was not easy as
what we were expecting.
One of the Challenges that we have
faced me and my partner Aisha, the time the PowerPoint has
taken to convert the slides to a video. But we learned that we
need to be patient and not panic because that just gone make
things worse. The video includes a lesson of the water cycle
based on the 5Es with two science experiments

The topic for this science activity is Earth and environmental

science, about the water cycle, for the age group 7-8 (grade 2).
The students will be able to discuss the water cycle, identify the
stages of the water cycle and given a worksheet, students will
label the stages of the water cycle. The lesson plan is based to
the 5es because its a powerful way to teach students. The 5Es
represent five stages of teaching and learning: Engage, Explore,
Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. Learners build new ideas on top
of their old ideas. It can be used for all the ages including adults.

The first stage of the 5Es is Engage; this stage helps the teacher
to know what the students already know. Helps the students to
make links between what they know and the new ideas also help
them become engaged through the use of small activities or by a
question or an event. So Students will be interested and excited
about the new topic.
The second stage is Explore; it means Get students involved in
the topic, build their understanding by participating in an activity
that helps concepts change. Moreover, students work with one
another to explore ideas and skills to make sense of the new
topic, mostly through hands-on activities with guidance.
The third stage is Explain; Engorge students to explain their
understanding of the concepts in their own words and provides
the opportunities to demonstrate their conceptual understanding.
That can be applied to such activities as discussions, chalk talks,
films, etc.
The fourth stage is Elaborate, the
learned and build on the students
extend their knowledge. Moreover
knowledge and continue to explore
similar or new situations.

students apply what they

understanding of topics to
Allow students to use the
its meaning and use it in

The fifth stage and the final one is Evaluate, this stage assesses
both learning and teaching and helps both students and teachers
to locate how much learning and understanding has taken place.
Students assess their knowledge, skills, and abilities; teachers
evaluate students progress.

We started the lesson by asking some general questions like did

you like the weather today? Why? And how the rain falls from the
sky? To engage them in the lesson (water cycle). To get them
more excited and interested, we showed them a video that
explains the stages and process of the water cycle after that; we
explained the three stages evaporation, condensation and
precipitation and the other process that were mentioned in the
video on the board.
After that we did the two experiments of the water cycle, the first
one represents the first part of the water cycle and the second
experiment represents the other parts of the water cycle. First,
we showed the students the materials, we start doing the steps,
and to let the students build their understanding by exploring, we
asked the students to follow us. We asked the students to work
on the experiment in groups, to engorge them to interact with
each other and observes what happened. Then the students
recorded the findings from the experiment.
After all the groups finished the experiments and recording it,
each group explained what happened while doing the experiment
in their words. That helps the students to provides the
opportunities to demonstrate their conceptual understanding and
analyze what they have recorded.
The Students designed their water cycle and then they presented
it to their classmate. That help them to apply what they learned
and build on their understanding of concepts to extend their
knowledge.
Finally, we gave them worksheets to label the definitions on the
water cycle diagram. The worksheet helps the students and us to
evaluate and assess their understanding and how much learning
has taken place.
