Using inquiry approach to teach scientific concepts

Every unit has key inquiry questions which need to be asked throughout the
term. We begin our science lessons by asking these questions then explore and
expand the concepts further through our teaching. We use the 5E pedagogical
framework (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate) to ensure we are
covering all aspects of our inquiry Unit.

Which learning styles did all the children seem to enjoy and why?
Kinesthetic, the children enjoy getting involved by doing. They learn
best through hand on activities.

Why do you think the teacher incorporates a variety of learning

styles for the children?
For them to hear, see and do makes learning easier.

Notice which activities are repeated with a variety of learning styles

e.g. read a story, listen to a story, act the story, draw the story. Can
you find other examples e.g. math or science.
Playing buzz, the teacher asks a student to choose a number from 1 to 20
and the students say the number in order. The students should say buzz
instead of the number chosen.

How can teachers improve student learning by using a range of

learning styles?
The students enjoy and look forward to learning when teachers use a
range of learning styles.
