A small hand tugged on his jacket, bringing him back to reality. Daddy, Im
hungry!
Sehun smiled down at his youngest son. Okay, Tao-ah. Say goodbye to
Appa, and then well go get some food, okay?
Bye Appa! the four-year-old boy said, waving at the smiling picture on the
headstone.
Thats a good boy. Now, where did your brother go? Sehun asked, looking
around for his oldest son. Jongin-ah!
Daddy! Sehun turned towards the boy running towards him with a bundle
of flowers in his hands. Daddy! I picked these for Appa. Do you think hell
like them? The boy thrust the bundle of wild flowers up to show his father, a
satisfied smile on his face.
I think Appa will love them, Jongin. Why dont you give them to him?
Jongin nodded as he walked over to the grave, gingerly placing the flowers
next to the bouquet his father had placed there earlier. Here, Appa. I picked
these for you. I hope you like them. Dont worry about us because Ill take
care of Daddy and make sure hes happy too, okay? I miss you Appa
Sehun blinked away his tears as he listened to the words his seven-year-old
son said to his deceased husband.
Alright, boys. Lets go. He picked Tao up and grabbed onto Jongins hand.
As they walked away, Sehun turned towards the grave and whispered,
Goodbye, Kyungsoo-ah. I miss you. I love you.
Daddy! I want cake! Jongin whined from the back seat of the car.
Sehun glanced at the young boy through the rearview mirror. Jongin was
straining against his seatbelt, staring out the window with his finger pointed
towards the small bakery they had just passed.
Weird, Ive never noticed that there before. Sehun thought as he stopped at
the red traffic light. It mustve just opened.
Alright, Jongin. Well try out that bakery today, Sehun replied as he turned
the car around towards the bakery. Are you okay with that, Tao Tao?
As soon as the car was parked, Jongin bolted out towards the bakerys
entrance. Jongin-ah, wait for me! Sehun said as he hurriedly grabbed Tao
out of the back seat. The seven-year-old let out a heavy sigh as he stopped
himself in front of the bakerys door, waiting for his dad and brother to catch
up. As soon as they were close enough, Jongin pushed the door open with his
entire body and entered the bakery, staring around in awe. His eyes reached
the size of saucers as soon as he saw the cakes and various other pastries at
the counter.
I want cake! Jongin exclaimed before Sehun could return the mans
greeting.
The brown-haired man leaned over the counter and smiled warmly at Jongin.
What kind of cake would you like? Our specials today are the triplechocolate fudge cake, and the strawberries n creme cake. The man pointed
to each of the cakes, and then waited patiently for the child to make his
decision.
Jongin furrowed his brows in concentration. His tongue stuck out of the
corner of his mouth as he carefully examined each and every cake on
display. Ill have this one! he said after careful contemplation, pointing at
the plain cheesecake at the very end. And the chocolate cake too!
Youre going to eat both of them by yourself? the brunet asked, amused.
No silly! The chocolate cake is for my little brother! Jongin replied, pointing
at the toddler in Sehuns arms. Tao Tao looooooves chocolate.
Ah, the brunet chuckled as he inputted the order. And how about you, sir?
Sehun startled as he realized the man was speaking to him. He had been so
caught up in the scene before him that he didnt realize the exchange
between his son and the man behind the counter had ended. Or rather - he
was so enthralled in the man before him, speaking to his son so warmly and
patiently. It had been such a long time since anyone had caught Sehuns
attention ever since his husband passed away. However, there was
something about this man that caught his interest; maybe it was the fact
that his interactions with his son reminded Sehun so much of the way
Kyungsoo used to be with his boys.
Daddy! Jongins voice broke Sehun away from his thoughts. Uncle is
talking to you!
Sehun could feel the blush in his cheeks as he shushed his son. Jongin-ah,
lower your voice. Youll disturb the other customers, he whispered before
turning his attention to the brunet at the counter. Sorry, he smiled
apologetically, Ill have a mochaccino and two hot chocolates, please.
The brown-haired man nodded as he inputted the rest of the order. Alright,
Ill just need a name for this order, he said, returning Sehuns smile.
O-Oh Sehun, the giant man stuttered as he handed the total amount owed
over.
Thanks, Mr. Park! the man smiled as he handed Sehun his change and
receipt. And will that order be for here or to go?
For here.
Alright. Sit anywhere youd like, and well bring your order over as soon as
its ready!
Jongdae-ah, can you make me a mochaccino and two hot chocolates,
please? Luhan asked his barista as he busied himself with the cakes.
For that fine man that just came in? his best friend asked, smirking as he
started making the requested drinks.
I didnt see a ring, and he was definitely checking you out as you were
talking to his kid, the barista teased as he poured the hot chocolate into two
mugs. And dont even bother arguing the fact that you were also undressing
him with your eyes, Jongdae smirked.
HeI-I was not, Luhan stammered, avoiding his friends knowing gaze. He
almost sighed in relief when another customer came in, giving him the
excuse to ignore his friends interrogation. Bring the order over to them
when youre done with the mochaccino, will you? he said before going over
to greet the new customer.
Yeah, my boss, Jongdae replied. He was the one that took your order. He
makes all of the cakes and pastries by himself. Enjoy! Jongdae bowed lightly
before turning and heading back behind the counter.
Sehun glanced over to the counter where the brunet - Luhan - was busy
taking the order of a young couple. He unconsciously smiled as he picked up
his fork and tried a piece of the cake.
Is it good, Daddy? Jongin asked, looking at his Sehuns cake with puppydog eyes.
Would you like to try a piece, Jongin? Sehun asked his son, who nodded
enthusiastically before grabbing a large piece of cake with his fork.
