Can you think of other signs that we might see around us?
Draw three signs that you have seen.
Symbols of Baptism
During Baptism there were signs and symbols used to visually represent what
was happening.
Match the sign or symbol with its correct action.
Pour water over the persons head while saying, I
baptise you in the name of the Father, and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit. Water is a sign new life.
This is used to anoint the person being baptised. Oil
is a sign of strength.
Discuss with your child if he/she is going to take a new name for
confirmation or if he/she is going to keep the name given at baptism.
If it is decided to take a new name remind your child that it has to be a
saints name.
Once you have decided on the saints name you need to work with your
child to do a little research and find out about the life of this person and
how this person lived a good life following the example of Jesus.
Discuss the link between godparents and a confirmation sponsor.
Begin to consider who would be a suitable sponsor for your child at
confirmation. (It must be a catholic who is over the age of fourteen. )
Begin to plan what your child will wear on the night of confirmation.
List two good things that this saint did during his/her life.

Being Called to
be a Witness to
Jesus.
We received the
gift of the
Holy Spirit at our
Baptism.
This gift of the Holy Spirit comes to us again at Confirmation to confirm and
enrich our spiritual life in Christ. We are now called to be a follower of Jesus
and a witness to his teaching.
Name one thing you have done this week that shows you are a follower of
Jesus._______________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________
The Saints gave witness to the Christian way of life by following the teachings
of Jesus.
Many ordinary people are giving witness daily to the Christian way of life.
Can you think of anyone in your family or community who are good role
models to the Christian way of life giving witness to the teachings of Jesus?
Name these people and how they show positive witness.

________________________________________________________________

Discuss with your child the values that you would like them to try and
develop for example: honesty, unselfishness, kindness and
thoughtfulness.
Discuss how your family tries to reach out to others.

at baptism?
What was their answer? _______________________________________
