The North Pole
North Pole is not a continent. It is specifically just iced water in the middle of an ocean. North Pole is
considerably hotter than South Pole, because it lies at sea level in the middle of an ocean, which acts as a
reservoir of heat.
Winter (January) temperatures at the North Pole can range from about 43C to 26C, perhaps
averaging around 34C. In South Pole, that really is a continent; the temperatures in winter are colder and
more severe than in North Pole. Temperatures can hit -90C as maximum and -30C as minimum
temperatures.
Summer (June, July and August) temperatures in North Pole have an average around the freezing
point (0 C). The highest temperature yet recorded is 5 C, much warmer than the South Pole's record high of
only 13.5 C.
