and explain sectionalism, states rights, and significant events.
OBJECTIVE:
Students in the 7th grade will be able to identify and illustrate at least 3 the
causes of the civil war onto a poster by the end of the period.

All war is civil, for it is always man against man, spilling his own blood,
tearing out his own entrails
Write a in a brief paragraph, How does this make you feel?
Students will be exposed to causes that lead to the American Civil War and the
events that followed. Significant key figures, dates, and events will be presented
via lecture, media, and/or classroom discussion based off text. A video clip will be
used to summarize the class lecture and a questionnaire will entail to ensure
participation.

of the period via class art work or journal entry.
S.S will be able to analyze the causes of the civil war and determine
the social and historical significance it had throughout the civil war.
Individually, students will briefly describe the scene theyve illustrated and
how they have incorporated a key term. (As the I.P continues )
CLOSURE:
Students will share what they wrote in their journals or how their town
would be different if located elsewhere. I.e. a town in the North vs. a town
in the South.
HOMEWORK:
Students will research a key figure that could have contributed to their town
and explain how they would have done so. They will present for the
following class period
