Lesson Title:

Blood Flow Mapping Using Inspiration

Grade Level:

12th

Subject:

Anatomy

Description of Learning Goals, Standards, Objectives

CC/GPSs:

National Technology
Standards:

SAP1. Students will analyze anatomical structures in relationship to

their physiological functions.
a. Apply correct terminology when explaining the orientation of body
parts and regions.
e. Describe how structure and function are related in terms of cell and
tissue types.

Long-Term Learning
Goal or Outcome:

6. Technology Operations and Concepts Students demonstrate a sound

understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations.
Students:
a.
understand and use technology systems.
b.
select and use applications effectively and productively.
At the end of this unit of curriculum, students will be able to understand
anatomy concepts using technology systems.

ABCD Objectives or
Outcomes:

Students will be able to identify correct terminology with respect to the

orientation the heart anatomy using a flow chart.
Students will be able to classify function and structure of the heart
anatomy using a heart diagram.

Assessment Plan:

Students will use a flow chart from the inspiration application to study
from, and then and the end of this curriculum, students will be asked to
generate a flow chart of their own from a blank page.
A blank heart diagram will be used for students to demonstrate their
knowledge of the heart structure. Later students will dissect a heart from
a mammal to understand a heart function with respect to its structure.

Description of Activities with Technology and Materials

Activity Design:
Day 1:
Class starter and lesson connection:

Class starter: what is the purpose of the heart?

Activity: Discuss class starter, then using
inspiration application we will begin to a blood
flow activity chart.
Homework: Read chapter material
Day 2:

Teacher and student activities:

Class starter: What is the difference between
oxygenated blood and deoxygenated blood?
Activity: Discuss class starter, then finish blood
flow activity chart.
Homework: Study flow chart

Day 3:
Class starter: Quiz students on the blood flow
chart.
Technology Connection:

Activity: Discuss the structure and function of the

Human heart using the inspiration application.
Homework: Read chapter material
Day 4:
Class starter: Discuss the protocol of the
dissection of a sheeps heart.
Activity: Conduct a detailed diagram of a human
heart using inspiration and the chapter material.
Homework: Study the human heart diagram
Day 5:

Materials and Resources:

Class starter: Quiz students on the human heart

diagram
Activity: Dissection of a sheeps heart in small
groups. This will be done with the teachers
assistance.

Reflection on Lesson Design

Future Actions :

Information on lesson plans and technology was

used to aid with this lesson plan.
On the next lesson plan I would use more than
one flow chart to showcase the technology
artifact.
The blood flow chart on inspiration requires
students to use higher order of thinking, because
the students will need to know the structure of
the heart in order to know the next steps of the
flow chart.
