VanGoghhadafascinationwiththenightsky,hethoughtthatthenightwasmuchmorealivethantheday.
Allthreeofthesepaintinghaveanightsettingwhiletheyalsoalldifferfromeachother.VanGoghhad
bipolardisorder,anxiety,depression,leadpoisoning,aswellasmanyotherhealthissues.Thesedisorders
hadanemotionalimpactonhimandthisshowedinhispaintings.Thesecondpaintingisthoughttohave
beendonewhileVanGoghwasinamentalinstitution.Thebrightlightsperceptioncouldhavebeendueto
hisleadpoisoning.Heisthoughttohaveleadpoisoningfrombitingonpaintchips.Whenyouhavelead
poisoning,youtendtoseelightswithahaloaroundthem.Youcanseeinthestarrynightthatthesebright
lightslooklikehaloswiththeswirlingdesign.Thefirsttwopaintinghavebluehueswhilethelastpainting
hasred,yellow,andgreenhues.Changingcolorschangesthemoodandperceptionofthepaintings.The
firsttwoseemcalmwhilethelastoneseemslonelyandsad.Usually,thisistheopposite,theredsand
yellowsaremorejoyfulandhappywhilethebluesaresadandcalm.Thesethreepaintingshowtheimpact
ofnightonpeople,nature,andotherlandscapes.VanGoghclearlyhadafascinationandlovewiththenight
whichshinesthroughinhispaintings.

twocategories,theartistwouldnotbeabletomakeafinishedproductthatcapturesthesameeventand
emotionaswhenithappenedinthepast.

bodymodificationisaformofartthatwasusedinancienttimesandisstillusedtoday.
