For Five weeks we had been meditating on the

Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was an experience
that the incredulous Apostles were exposed to.
They were afraid and they were dismayed.
Thomas even refused to believe without evidence.
Finally it all made sense for them. Hopefully our
faith and belief in Christ has been strengthened
and deepened by our reflections on the
Resurrection and the acts of the Apostles.
Our Readings today, set before us the true value of
obeying laws and rules. The blind faith that the
Jews had in their laws and rituals are to be
replaced by our new Christian perspectives. It is
LOVE that should be the guiding principle of our
lives. The security that we have in keeping the
laws should be enhanced by the belief that Gods
Love had and continues to prompt Him, to help us
love Him and one another, as we love ourselves.
We are getting ready to celebrate the Feast of the
Ascension of the Lord this Thursday, which will be
exactly 40 days after the Resurrection. However,
we shall celebrate the Feast of the Ascension next
Sunday. May the Holy Spirit increase our Love for
God and for one another, as we shall meditate on
the return of Christ into Heaven.

called him directly, whereupon he sought out
Nathanael and told him of the one about
whom Moses wrote

Next Sunday is Mothers Day. We wish all Mothers

Gods blessings. We thank you for your dedication
and the sacrifices that you make for the good of

SAMOAN MASS

This Sunday, May 1, the Samoan Community will

celebrate their Monthly Mass at 2 PM, instead of
the usual time of 4 PM.. This change is
necessitated by the Filipino Community Novena
to Our Lady of Manaoag.

PRIESTS CONVOCATION
The Annual Convocation of Priests will be at the
Turtle Bay Hotel, Kahuku, from May 9 till the 13th.
Please pray for the Bishop and the Priests of our
Diocese.
On May 8th we will celebrate the Feast of the
ASCENSION OF THE LORD. On May 15th we
will celebrate the PENTECOST, the Feast of

the HOLY SPIRIT.

Newcomers are encouraged to register with the parish
and are welcome to participate in all ministries and

To love Jesus means

to live by his
commandments
and
teachings. In
our hearts, we do
want to do this. We want to
honor Christ by imitating him.
We want to love like Jesus
loves. We know that God
dwells in us when we do this.
However, it isn't easy. Every
day, stuff happens that challenges our ability to keep his
word and imitate his ways.
Either we forget what Jesus
would have done in a similar
situation, or we don't know.
When people afflict us with
their faults and failings and
unloving behaviors, we fumble around in uncertainty and
guesswork and sinful reactions.
There is no list in scripture
that spells out clearly how to
follow Christ in each and
every circumstance: "If suchand-such occurs, apply Godly Principle #127."

This is why Jesus assured

us that he'd give us his Holy
Spirit. The Holy Spirit is here
to remind us of Jesus and
his holy ways every time we
face another challenging situation, from the moment we wake up in the morning till
the moment we're sleeping again.

So then, our problem is not that we don't know how to

keep the commandments of Christ. Our problem is

that we forget to rely on the Holy

Spirit who teaches us how to
keep the commandments. Or
we don't know how to be
aware of his guidance. We
have God's full assistance,
but we react to life's challenges as if we must handle it
by ourselves.
Here's a spiritual exercise to stay
open the sound of Holy Spirit guiding
you: Sanctify each hour. Set your
watch or a timer app on your cell
phone to beep an alarm at the top of
each hour. Whenever it beeps, say a
few words thanking the Holy Spirit
for being with you and guiding you
through the next sixty minutes. After
doing this for few weeks, you'll become automatically and constantly
aware of the presence of God and
his ever-available help.

Reflect & Discuss:

1. How often do you pray specifically to the Holy Spirit for guidance and insight and understanding?
2. What would you like the Holy
Spirit to explain to you right
now? Ask for the help, and then
wait, watch and listen for God to
open your heart to the truth.
3. How has the Holy Spirit been a
teacher to you? How has God
filled in gaps in your understanding of scripture and Church
teachings and their real-life applications?
4. What sources has he used to
convey the information (e.g., a
homily, a song, a friend)?

Are we guided by laws and regulations? Should we be not motivated

by Love? God so loved the World that He sent His only Son that
whoever believeth in Him will have Eternal Life.
Our Security is not in the fulfilment of laws and obedience to
commandments, our security comes from the Faith and Hope that we
have all been blessed with, and the Love with which we keep the
laws and commandments, that God has given us.
