To whom it may concern:

I am honored to submit this letter of recommendation on behalf of Miss Amie Gonzalez. Amie is a highly talented,
socially conscious young lady who is well deserving of the opportunities provided by your organization.
I met Amie in the first few weeks of her freshman year when she began working in Career and Professional Development.
Immediately, Amies bright smiles and positive attitude added a special touch to the office. In addition to her positive
attitude, Amies attention to detail and willingness to take on new projects, no matter the size, quickly made her stand out
among the crowd.
Although somewhat shy, Miss Gonzalez has always taken the initiative to identify opportunities that will prepare and
position her to pursue her goals in the area of social justice. Amie has obtained internships with Loyola Law School in the
Center for Juvenile Law and Policy, Los Angeles Superior Court, and Kleinberg Lange Cuddy & Carlo LLP. The work
that she has done that loudly speaks to her quest for social justice is the work she did at the Los Angeles Superior Court,
where Amie assisted Spanish speaking litigants with the completion of legal petitions and documents. This required Amie
to communicate with the litigants in Spanish and translate their responses in English. Many of the litigants were low
income immigrants with limited education.
Amies social consciousness transcends to the campus of LMU. She often serves as a mentor to her female freshman and
sophomore counterparts who are finding their way on campus. By sharing her experiences with them and informing them
of various support services on campus, Miss Gonzalez has assisted many students in making sound decisions that have
launched their careers as students to a higher level of consciousness and personal responsibility, both socially and
academically. She has also skillfully chosen to engage in campus involvements where she has taken on leadership roles,
such as the Mock Trial Club, iLead Leadership Conference, and the Latino Business Student Association, where she held
the position of Vice President of Corporate Relations.
Miss Gonzalezs interest in helping others begins at home. In fact, I suspect it is where her passion for social justice
derives. She serves as an example to her younger female cousins who come from families who migrated from Mexico
and lack formal education. Amie serves as a positive example of what they can accomplish if willing to commit to the
sacrifice and work required to achieve success.
An achiever. A leader. A motivator. A soldier for social justice. Amie Gonzalez fits many descriptions. All which
make her stand out above all others and worthy of this opportunity. I commend you for considering her.
Sincerely,
Dr. Cassandra L. Bailey
