March 28, 2016 RE: Catherine Megison To Whom It May Conve: Catherine Megison is an undergraduate student in our Special Education Program seeking certfieation in special education, general education (EC-6), and ESL. She plans to graduate this May though the ‘Educational Psychology Department as an Interdisciplinary Studies major Toversce the field placements in our program and serve as an instructor. Over the past two years, Thave gotten to know Catherine as a student rceiving field placements, asa student in my seminar class, and ‘ona personal level as support was provided during a difficult personal time. Catherine has many strengths that will serve her well as an educator not the leat of which is her fortitude. Fini, as evidenced by Catherine's performance during student teaching, she consistently excels i Jearner-centered instruction with respect to planning and preparation, instructional efficiency, classroom ‘management, and professional relationships, communication, and responsibilities. These strengths will be significant in her being able to differentiate the instruction and the environment for a variety of learners and their needs. Furthermore, Catherine’s strength in collaboration will be demonstrated inthe positive relationships she will have with eampus personnel and with those whom she supervises as they Work together to meet the needs of all learners Catherine also exhibits strengths that became apparent when she was going through some personal challenges. I witnessed her fortitude in that she did not quit the program, or even pause fora semester, ‘when that would have been completely understandable, Additionally, she sought positive support and continued giving her best effort which testified to her resilience and ability to move forward in the face of adversity. These strengths of character, along withthe skills she has obtained and honed over these last two years, make for a professional educator ready o face the challenges that teaching will certainly present.
