Critical Reflection Letter
Dear Reader,
This semester, we went over many different things in this writing class, and some of the
most important things we did were the different student learning outcomes. Those are: Rhetorical
Knowledge, Critical Reading, Composing Process, Knowledge of Conventions and Critical
Reflection (this letter).
The first learning outcome, rhetorical knowledge, is conveyed through mainly the blog
we had to put together. I chose to make the rhetorical knowledge piece the blog because I feel
like I used a variety of different texts, from scholarly articles to blogs, to find components that
are included in my line of inquiry. The infographic used the information from my blog to convey
my line of inquiry a little bit more in depth. On the creative writing page, I decided the best
things to use were the answers/reflections to the assignments that we had to complete this
semester, as well as the structured writing piece. The reason I chose to add the reflections of the
assignments in class is because I feel like they show my thinking of the questions or readings we
did and how I interpreted them.
For my composing process page, I figured the best items to use on that were the short
writings I did and the papers I wrote in this class to show how I came up with my line of inquiry

and how I wrote the main papers for the class. The two papers I chose to use are the Crash film
review and the introductory paper from the very beginning of the semester. The Crash review is
what really helped me in choosing my inquiry question, as we had to pick a topic to use from that
film for the whole semester. Finally, for the knowledge of conventions page, I chose to put two
of my genre project pieces, the proposal for my line of inquiry (which I did polish up to make it
better) and an interview paper I wrote for a religious studies course I took this semester. The
reason I chose to use the interview paper is because of the way it is constructed. It is generally
written in question and answer format, with connections to the material from that class as well.
Overall, i think the objects I have chosen to be put in the portfolio have to do with the
respective learning outcome they are categorized under.
Sincerely,
Xander Picot
