the process and the process can take a long time. Along with taking a long
time, the new technique may not receive board approval. Another negative
aspect is if the policy is approved it can be very costly to implement it in an
institutional setting. There are many financial obstacles that can impact in
the school.
Furthermore, I have shown a noticeable improved on these domains.
These domains not only stated the explanation however, I also utilize them
in my real life classroom. I am very cautious now about policies and
regulations especially now that I know the impact if they are not properly
followed. This class has not only taught me about domains, but also about
peer communication. This was a challenging class because we were put in
groups and this was strictly an online class. I had to coordinate through:
email, text message, phone, Face Time, and Blackboard. This taught help
enhance my communication skill by using technology in order for me to get
the lesson complete. This is very important because some group members
are different types of learners. This class make me realize that I should not
get comfortable with one format of communication, but be able to
communicate in multiple ways.
Thus my view on Media Utilization has sparked my interest in helping
my student to learn more by implementing technology. I am seeking more
visual programs and applications in order for my visual students, so that

they can learn complex problem solving skills. As far as Diffusion of
Innovation goes, I strived to have ESL classes on my campus to help the non
English speaking parents. I felt that this could also form a connection to
invite them to know what is happening in our school district. My efforts paid
off because this was approved by our superintendent. Due to my interest in
Media Utilization, I requested the implementation of new technology such as
applications to help learner visualize the concepts on a SmartBoard. Within
two months, I was able to download my math manipulates applications in
my classroom. This was the foundation of institutionalizing technology in the
classroom. This resulted in student academically learning and increasing
grade averages. In addition, due my efforts in founding an ESL program and
requesting new technology, I have found that policies and procedures are
complicated. I learned to give myself time in order for everything to get
approved. Due to the strict internet policies, it is my responsibility to
research each application and how it will benefit the child academically.
Conclusion
Overall, this course, Trends and Issues in Instructional Technology, has
not only taught me about domains, but it has also taught me about the
trends and issues regarding the past, current, and future technology events.
Technology has changed tremendously from when I was a student in

elementary school. I am very curious to see what is going to happen in
another five to ten years in the technology in the field of education.
