Dear Hiring Committee,

I am excited to have this opportunity to apply for a teaching position during the 2016-2017 school year with the London
District Catholic School Board. Enclosed is my resume that outlines my many experiences working as an educator with
children and the public. I am an Occasional Teacher on the London District Catholic School Boards Occasional Teacher
Roster. I have been enjoying my position as an Occasional Teacher, and would appreciate any opportunity to continue
moving forward in my teaching career with the London District Catholic School Board. I completed my Bachelor of
Education degree in the Junior-Intermediate stream, as well as my additional basic qualification in the Primary division in
2015 at the University of Western Ontario, and I am eager to continue to put my skills and knowledge to work in within
your school board.
I am a self-starter who is energetic, ambitious, and professional. I have had many experiences working in educational
environments, and I believe that my experiences working as an educator will be useful for me as a teacher. My experiences
as an Occasional Teacher have allowed me to develop and implement successful classroom management techniques, while
maintaining school and classroom rules in the absence of the permanent classroom teacher. As an Occasional Teacher, I
have been able to collaborate with other teachers within the schools I visit, and through this I have learned many different
techniques in order to successfully educate children while promoting inclusion and mutual respect among the students. My
experiences have also allowed me to learn multiple methods of differentiating instruction within my lessons. This ensures
that all students can learn effectively, and all students are engaged and excited to learn.
As a Catholic educator I believe that it is important to provide students with a high quality Catholic education, where
students can grow and develop to their full potential. My vision is to help my students become self-directed, responsible
community members, who continuously develop and demonstrate their God given potential. In order to assist students in
becoming self-directed, responsible community members, I plan to demonstrate Catholic teaching within my lessons, and
through my daily interactions with the students.
Through my experiences working as an educator, I have been able to develop several attributes which I believe are
important as a teacher. These attributes consist of leadership qualities and a willingness to work collaboratively,
organizational/planning skills, an ongoing positive work ethic, and a passion for educating children. I am confident that my
experiences and attributes will help me as a teacher, as I provide children with enriching educational experiences. I am also
a strong believer of professional development, and that we are all lifelong learners. As an educator, I plan to engage in
professional development opportunities in order to continuously grow as a professional, and to model to my students that
learning is continuous throughout ones life. I am currently adding to my professional growth and development by enrolling
in the additional basic qualification in the Senior division (Family Studies), and Special Education Part One this year.
I would like to thank you for providing me with the opportunity to apply for a teaching position with the London District
Catholic School Board during the 2016-2017 school year. I will look forward to hearing from you to set up an interview. I
can be reached at aestruch@office.ldcsb.on.ca .
Yours sincerely,

Ashley C. Estruch
