It is a pleasure to be writing this letter of recommendation for Kaylyn Stewart. As Kaylyns U.S History,
Philosophy and Government teacher, I have continually been impressed with her exceptional quality of work as a
student and outstanding character as a person. Evidence of this is the fact that she received high honors award for
academic achievement every year of high school so far and received second place in the Campus Star Newspaper
competition in the entire district. She has shown incredible initiative and problem solving skills and is also
involved in the community. Ms. Stewart shows her responsibility in the fact that she volunteers at Horseplay in
Dixon and is also trusted by parents who she babysits for.
Buckingham Charter Magnet High School is a small college prep school with very high expectations. As a social
studies teacher at this school, I strive to have our students not only master the content but come to their own
reasoned conclusions about historical and current events. In this very competitive atmosphere, Kaylyn has
continued to exceed expectations in a variety of areas.
Ms. Stewart does not merely complete assigned work in order to receive a grade, but rather synthesizes new
information in a broader understanding of the subject. Her eloquent style and natural ability to articulately
express herself through her writing is demonstrated in every assignment that she turns in. Her work consistently
shows not only completion but higher level critical thinking skills. In addition to her academic success, she was
the editor of the Knight Writers Newsletter, has been in the school musical, was the treasurer of the writing club,
and was a member of the glee club.
Kaylyn has a great rapport with her classmates and the staff of the school. She collaborates with other students
with an open mind during group work and meaningfully contributes to class discussions. She has traveled abroad
in Europe which has given her a broader understanding of how the world works and her place in it. She treats
everyone with kindness and respect while firmly voicing her opinions. Ms. Stewart is the type of student who
will accomplish whatever she sets her mind to and has my highest recommendation.
