1. "Alcohol's Effects on the Body." National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism
(NIAAA). N.p., n.d. Web. 04 May 2016.
This article is describing the side effects that alcohol has on the body. It will be
used to try and argue against my stance of lowering the drinking age to eighteen for those
who serve our country. The article shows the different areas that alcohol effects including
the brain, heart, liver, pancreas, and other parts of the body. Along with the different body
parts that are effected, it gives a list showing some of the different effects it has on the
certain body part.
2. "Drinking Age ProCon.org." ProConorg Headlines. N.p., n.d. Web. 04 May 2016.
This website is a site that gives a list of pros and cons of lowering the drinking
age from twenty-one to eighteen. It gives medical reasons, lawful reasons, and some
economic reasons. It lists a pro first and then a con that argues the side of the pro.
Throughout the entire site, it is up to whomever reads the different sides to determine
which would be more effective. Whether lowering the age is more helpful or whether it
should remain as is at twenty-one.
3. "Substance Abuse in the Military." DrugFacts:. N.p., 01 Mar. 2013. Web. 04 May 2016.

In this article, it talks of military men and women and what they go through
vaguely. It tends to side more with lowering the drinking age. It gives actual facts about
drinking from the military perspective as well as the civilian side. It shows that a civilian
is more prone to drinking illegally than a person in the military. This article gives a broad
perspective into the real world all around us when it comes to alcohol in our military as
well as for civilians.

4. "Lower the Drinking Age to 18." The Sundial. N.p., 23 Feb. 2011. Web. 04 May 2016.
This article is a students perspective as to why the legal drinking age should be
lowered to eighteen. He mentions that at the age of eighteen, a person becomes legally
allowed to vote, enlist in the military, and serve on jury duty; however, are not allowed to
enjoy an alcoholic beverage. He mentions that drinking alcohol can actually be healthy
for you. However; when he states that, he adds a key word at the end, which is
moderation. He also gets into the cons of lowering the drinking age. He includes that
when New Zealand lowered their drinking age, there was a fifty percent increase to
intoxicated eighteen and nineteen year olds admitted into their care facilities.
5. "Lowering the Legal Drinking Age: An Analysis of the Pros and Cons." SpeakUP
Prevention Coalition. N.p., n.d. Web. 05 May 2016.
The article here is another persons perspective on lowering the drinking age from
twenty-one to eighteen. He gives factual reasons for both pros of lowering the drinking
age as well as for the cons. He also adds questions that may be asked to argue every pro
and con he states. The author of the article went to a high school that he lives near and

interviewed every senior at the school and asked if they consumed alcohol within the past
year. His research stated that over seventy percent of the seniors had an alcoholic
beverage within the past year.
6. "The Emotional Effects of War on Soldiers." The Emotional Effects of War on Soldiers.
N.p., n.d. Web. 05 May 2016.
This article focuses on the effects that war takes on a human being. It goes
through the physical as well as the emotional/ mental side effects. It mentions the
physical scars that may be left on the body that constantly reminds them of what
happened and what they went through. It also mentions the most common effect of war,
PTSD. PTSD stands for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. This effects the brain causing the
contractor to constantly hear noises that happened during the time of the event as well as
possibly see the event take place and they react to what they see.
