Personal Awareness Project Pt. 3
November 24, 2015
I believe that I was successful in following through with my strategies for meeting
challenges to the extent that I rarely failed to meet said challenges. Although this was the case, I
was very progressive with respect to how I should meet my challenges. My sense of skills has
changed since the beginning of the semester in that I developed the ability to persevere in times
where I wanted to stop working to meet my challenges. Also I identified which of my skills were
not helping me to develop and tried to phase out those specific skills. My sense of interests has
not changed dramatically since I started school. I still am as big as a soccer fanatic as I was at the
beginning of the academic school year. Although I have been listening to a lot of other musical
genres lately.
Based on what I learned about myself this semester, I can get the most out of next
semester by doing what I set out to do regardless of how hard it gets. The ability to persevere
will be crucial in doing so and is my I developed that skill over the course of the semester. What
I learned about the subject matter of this course is that we need to examine more closely the
manner in which we produce food and distribute it to consumers around the globe. There are
issues that have been pointed out throughout the course including: our disconnection to how our
food is made, the social implications of our food industry, the gendering of food, genetically
modified organisms, and the ethics of meat.
What I learned about myself that surprised me the most this semester was the fact that I
decided to join a fraternity. My initial motivation for joining one was in part due to the fact that I
was not doing anything else. I wasnt joining clubs or organizations so I figured that I had
nothing to lose by joining a fraternity. It turned out to be the best decision ever in my opinion. I
have brothers who I know will support me far into the future with anything, no matter how small.
On my first day the UNC Charlotte, I never would have imagined that I would have the privilege
to join an organization with values that align with my own.
Given what I learned, I want to be able to try things that I normally could not see myself
doing and subsequently reap the benefits of taking that chance. With that being said, I want to try
and join as many clubs and organizations as possible. This may sound a little generic, but I am as
motivated as ever to expand my network of people and contribute as much as I can to represent
the University of Charlotte wherever I go. This semester has made me a proud student of the
institution and I know with whatever I do at Charlotte, I know that it will be for the best.
