LIST OF SERVICES
NEWSLETTER. A bi-weekly compilation of information on
prospective heavy and highway work, letting notices, new
association members, specification changes, construction
memorandums, safety, and other items of interest is published
on alternate Tuesdays and distributed electronically to the
membership.
DIRECTORY. A classified directory of members and
associates is published annually. This directory also contains a
variety of useful information on the Federal Highway
Administration, the Kentucky Department of Highways, the
General Assembly, Congress and other Departments of State
Government.
COMMITTEES. Individual Board of Directors members
serve as Chairpersons or Co-Chairpersons of various standing
committee that address specific issues impacting the
association. The committee structure allows for contractor and
associate member input to technical and regulatory issues that
concern the industry. These issues may involve the Kentucky
Transportation Cabinet, FHWA, or other state and national
agencies. There are also committees comprised of members
concerning association activities that require member input.
The committees meet on an as needed basis to address specific
issues of interest to association members.
INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS. Industrial relations services
include representation in prevailing wage determination,
safety standards and employer-employee relations, both union
and non-union.
GOVERNMENT RELATIONS. Staff members maintain
close liaison with the General Assembly, the Legislative
Research Commission, the Federal Highway Administration,
the Kentucky Department of Highways, etc. to keep the
membership informed of actions that could impact the
industry.

INSURANCE. A group health, life, accident and disability


insurance program is available. In addition, a workers
compensation self-insurance program is available at very
favorable rates.
INTERNET WEB SITE. An internet web site is made
available and maintained through an internet provider service.
The Association updates the web site with important
information through the bi-weekly newsletter and by links to
other providers of information needed in conducting highway
construction activities. All Kentucky Transportation Cabinet
information can be directly linked to provide access to
Division activities with the Cabinet. This is an easy way to
access needed information concerning project letting activity.
Such information is a listing of pre-qualified contractors,
notices of advertisement to contractors, a proposal holders list
by project when available, a plan holders list, quantity sheet
information, low bid sheets, bid tabulations, award of projects
and average unit bid prices.
BID TABULATIONS. On letting day KAHC generates bid
tabulations for the top three bidders on each project in a
format that is user friendly to view and to print. This
information, along with a list of the apparent low bidders on
the projects, is posted to the KAHC website, and a link is
mailed to all of our members, notifying them that the
information has been updated.
DATA BASE. A detailed data base of bid items is maintained
on all projects let by the Division of Construction
Procurement.
LIBRARY. A library is maintained which contains
publications of interest to the highway construction industry.
Included are Kentucky Transportation Cabinet publications,
regulations, statutes and periodicals.

OTHER SERVICES. Notary service is available and


assistance is available on problems and situations involving

KAHC MEMBERSHIP COSTS. There are two types of membership with KAHC, one is a regular member (which is a contractor
that is prequalified to bid work with Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC)) and the other is an associate membership. Annual
membership dues for each type of membership are $600. In addition to the annual dues, regular members are also assessed
percentage dues on the volume of work the company is awarded through KYTC as a prime or subcontractor, at a rate of 0.1%, or $1
per $1000.
