Launch Research Associate- Class of 2016 Boston, MA 02210 Dear hiring manager, I have had the pleasure of working at Wellington Management during the last three months as an undergraduate summer intern while pursuing my bachelors degree in business, with a concentration in finance and accounting. Coming into the internship, I was keen to understand the various roles across the industry. My internship gave me exposure to various groups across the firm, and I seized the opportunity to supplement my exploration through one-on-one meetings with various personnel. For my main summer project, which was co-managed by Tim McCarthy and Will Wrightson, I developed a model that forecasts Class 8 truck production. Through discussions with investment professionals, attending the Morning Meeting, and conducting research for my project, my passion for investing has grown and my aspiration to join Wellington on a full-time basis has been solidified. I learned that the work is not easy, but I enjoyed the challenge. I believe some important traits that are essential to becoming a successful investor are to be patient, be a risk taker, know how to deal with adversity and uncertainty, learn from one anothers mistakes, and have self-discipline. Certain aspects of my background that best illustrate my ability to become an investor would be my strong dedication, work ethics, and ability to turn adversity into a positive motivation. Being born in El Salvador and understanding the risk of migrating to a foreign country, I have learned to value the opportunities that come my way. Adversities that we faced back home were not left behind, and I am proud to say that I have defeated the odds of what society has expected for me. I believe I can contribute to the firm by bringing a diverse mindset and strong motivation to grow as an individual along with the company. As the oldest of five children, I was taught to be responsible and set priorities at a young age. Prior to my internship with Wellington, I was working in the building lobby as a security officer while attending school full time. I built relationships with Wellington personnel by demonstrating professionalism, hard work, and a bit of charisma, which helped me stand out as an individual in the lobby. Last semester was by far my toughest yet; I took six courses and worked close to 50 hours a week, but my hard work paid off earning me a spot on the deans list. I would welcome the opportunity to leverage these skills and continue to learn every day by becoming a full-time member of Wellington next summer. I have enclosed my resume for your review, thank you very much in advance for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Carlos Villegas
