Racism

Visual Analysis
These pictures will be analyzed to convey the message and the
meaning behind them. We can gather that the first picture is of words being
put together which can lead the audience to guess the main idea of the
picture being about racism. The second picture can also show the push to
end racism with combining all races together to end the bias. Racism
contains all rhetorical appeals. With full evaluation and research, it can fully
support logos, ethos, and pathos.
Purpose of Image
Both pictures have the same message they want to get across to
people it may affect. Racism is a very common problem that we face every
day. The pictures are used to boycott against racism. There are many
dangers when it comes to being biased. The first picture shows different
words that describe racism. We can gather that it is trying to help us
understand, in other words, what racism is. The second image has used the
colors black and white to show the two colors coming together. It can also be
interpreted as all the colors in between wanting to get along. Both images
have a strong meaning when it comes to ending racism.
Audience
Audience could be children and adults. Children can learn to not be
racist as well as trying to teach adults that being prejudice is wrong.
Logos

Words are used to describe anything for a better understanding of

something or someone. The words that are being portrayed in the first
picture uses the words such as discrimination, unequal, bias, and terror.
People most likely believe that these words are what people have used to
describe racism as well as describe how they felt during certain situations.
For example, the word terror and unequal can have a person believe that
there have been situations where people have feared for their lives as well as
being treated unfairly. The second picture sends a clear message to anyone
who sees it. It says No More Racism, which is a very straightforward
message as well as combining the colors together. It can show that all colors
from lightest to darkest can get along to have a safe community. It can be a
great way to explain racism to children.
Pathos
The accepting of others and getting along with your peers has evolved
greatly for the past several years. Although we see the new community,
there is still racism in our country. There have been incidents of threats,
shootings, kidnappings and much more going on because of peoples beliefs.
Unfortunately, it has become a very personal problem for everyone in some
way. It has spread so quickly that there are campaigns, protests, TV shows,
and lots of other social media has been used to portray and show that race is
still a problem. An example of entertainment can show people that there is
still people who are biased. An example is a recent TV show that has come
out called American Crime. The plot is focused on a 16 year old boy who was

raped by a group of boys from a private school. The situation caused the 16
year old to be kicked out of the school and forced to attend a public school.
Although the plot is not necessarily focused on race, the tension and
problems that arise between the two schools are extremely biased not just
on race but also with financial situations, sexism, avoidance of public
humiliation, and so much more problems that happen on a day to day basis.
Racism can lead to people being socially biased because of what they
believe a certain race is capable of. It has eventually come to a time where
people are not only racist, but biased because of their familys lifestyle
situation.
Ethos
There are many pictures that can spread the word about racism.
Anyone can perceive each picture different. They can also believe that one
picture is more powerful in meaning than the next. Whatever the case is, it is
still getting the point across about having equality. Words have always been
the strongest piece of getting the point across, but visual images can also
show the depth of the situation. Both words and pictures support each other
to create a very inspirational way to end discrimination. These two pictures
can create a simple image of what it is to speak up and support your beliefs.
