It is hard to believe it is already May, and we have all added another year of experience to our toolbox! May is
always one of my favorite months of the year. This is in part because of the anticipation of all things summerbaseball, campfires, and warm, late nights. May has also been one of my favorite months because I have always
found that I end the month of May with a long to do list. Just to be clear, this is not exciting because it is a list of
things I neglected throughout the year, but rather, it is a list of things I would like to change and improve on for
the coming year. My May to do list is always a reminder to me that learning, growing and changing is healthy for
all of us in education. I have found that this to do list also leaves me anxiously anticipating the coming school
year, and all of the challenges and successes it will hold, and that is exciting!
This week, our staff spent time discussing possible changes that we need to make for the coming school year.
One of the areas that we identified as an area for improvement is how we are using data to show gains in
students Social and Emotional Learning. Another area that we will be working to improve upon are the
procedures and forms that we use to assist in the recovery room process, conducting FBAs and writing BIPs for
students. These will all be items that we work to address for the coming year.
To end the school year, I will send an email of important dates and items that each district will want to do before
leaving for summer break. In this email there will be a link to a survey which will allow you to provide feedback
about your services through ACES. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey, and to help us grow to
meet your districts needs.
Thanks for all you do, and I hope May treats you well!
