Artifact Title: Professional Code of Ethics
Artifact Summary
The artifact is a Professional Code of Ethics. Each student constructed their own Code to fit
their situation. The Professional Code of Ethics was designed to be a moral compass and guide
for my professional behavior toward students, my professional practice, and toward my
community. I took this assignment very seriously. In the alternative education school where I
work it is so important to be a consistent, unwavering voice of reason. Students do not come to
any schooling situation with an ethical, moral and productive character that will contribute
positively to the community. In constructing the Professional Code of Ethics I took many
scenarios and situations that I had already been through and made sure that they were included in
one of the three main themes
Course Outcomes
Developed a Professional Code of Ethics that fits my professional behavior toward
students, my professional practice, and toward my community.
Examined the role of an educator and the responsibility that goes with the profession in
the areas of morals, ethical issues, and societal dilemmas.
Critically think through potential situations that arise with students, parents,
administrators, and peers.
Impact on Present Teaching
I reflected on my classroom experiences, strained relationships with a few of my colleagues and
issues that occurring with the community where I teach when putting together my Professional
Code of Ethics. This class really made me think about my teaching practices and how I view my
role as an educator. The responsibility that is given to a teacher is not just the curriculum but in
so many cases as teachers we are educating our students to be well rounded, productive, moral,
and ethical human beings.
Impact for Future Teaching
I will continue to fight for what is morally, ethically and socially right in and out of the
classroom.
I will examine my actions and reflect on the impact that my decisions will have on all
stakeholders.
I will continue to examine my Professional Code of Conduct to ensure that all points
have a positive effect on all involved and make adjustments when needed.
I will continue to grow as a Child of Christ and answer His Call to fight to protect those
He has entrusted to me.

Tammy Kinnetz Professional Code of Ethics

Preamble
I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. My personal approach
creates the climate. My daily mood makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess a tremendous power to make a
childs life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of to the torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or
humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, my response decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a
child humanized or de-humanized.

Hiam Ginnott:
To this end I must take serious responsibility for my actions as an educator. As a professional
educator I will embody the highest ethical and moral standards. With integrity and fairness I will
strive to guarantee an equal education opportunity for all students regardless of race, color,
religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, marital status, or national origin.
The code of professional ethics covers three basic principles of conduct toward the student,
