Unit: Who am I?
Language Objectives:
- be able to identify and explain their use of the principles and elements of art used
- be able to define terms such as: thumbnails, sketches, value scales, journaling, brainstorming, and research
Behavioral Objectives:
- use sketchbooks as a way to prepare and brainstorm for each project throughout the course
- draw/paint/create at least three free-choice works within their sketchbooks a week, getting in the practice of using
their sketchbooks as a visual journal

Procedures:
Students will use their sketchbooks as both a tool for planning their projects, but also as a visual journal. Students
will be expected to draw, sketch, or journal at least three entries a week of their own choice, using whichever
medium theyd like.
Students are encouraged to carry their sketchbooks everywhere with them and embellish their sketchbooks to make
them personal.
