It is an honor to speak on behalf of Ms. Sadie Watkins. I recommend her for any teaching position, as she would be an asset to any school district. This fall and spring semester, Sadie Watkins interned in my fifth grade English Language Arts class at McNair Middle School. During her time in my classroom she engaged students in rigorous, hands on learning, while building and fostering strong relationships with each of her students. During her time at McNair, Sadie held responsibility to four sections of English Language Arts and one section of Learning Lab; an intervention and enrichment class. During her time teaching these courses, Ms. Watkins designed lessons that were student centered and engaged students into rich learning experiences. While teaching English Language Arts, Sadie reached a wide variety of ability level amongst her student population. Two sections of the Language Arts classes she took over, included seven students with Individualized Learning Plans, ten students with 504s and twelve students who are in the Gifted and Talented program within Fayetteville Public Schools. Sadie worked effortlessly to differentiate her instruction in order to reach, challenge, and engage all learners. Due to her hard work, and focus on students, all of her learners found success within her teaching. While teaching a ten day unit on WWII, Ms. Watkins created student centered projects and tasks that required students, through google classroom, to research and gather information, write informational text and present to their peer. Each of her 112 students was able to engage in this process fully and find a high level of success. This is only due to the motivation she supplied and the inspiring atmosphere she created. Due to her instruction, ability to utilize her resources and the support she was able to give students, students found confidence and success. While creating rigorous lessons for her students is a strength, Ms. Watkins also shines in the area of student relationships and professionalism. Sadie has a natural ability to gain respect from her students and colleagues. Because of her positive and enthusiastic personality, engaging students is easy for her. I am confident that Sadie will be an asset to any school district she works with. She has the skills to work with children, motivate them, inspire them and teach them. I strongly believe that she will greatly impact the students who are blessed to have her for a teacher.
