Anticipatory Set: Describe how you will engage students and connect to their background
knowledge. (1-2 mins)
Ask the question: Have you ever wanted to ask parents or students a few questions, but
didnt want to hold a long discussion? Think about a time when you wondered if parents
thought a certain unit lesson influenced their child or a field trip was inspiring. Have
you asked students how their collaboration groups were going? Only to get a long
discussion that didnt target any specific changes.
Continue a quick discussion about the possible topics every teacher would like to get
some feedback about.
Teaching: Describe how the strategy/concept/skill will be introduced/modeled. (1-3 mins)
First, I will show the student a completed survey on Survey Monkey. A quick look at the
summary tab and analysis tab will help the student see the information provided by
implementing this kind of survey. Next, I will show the student the steps to creating a
survey by first starting at create survey naming the survey pick Education from
drop down box Lets Go. On the create page I will explain the different options on the
left hand side to use to create a personalized survey. I will explain that she can add her
own questions by clicking add a question and choosing an option from the drop down
box. Finally click Done.
Active Involvement: Describe what students will do in a short practice session to demonstrate
understanding. (5-8 mins)
The student will create their own survey using Survey Monkey. First, the student needs
to identify a topic for the survey. Following my directions, the student will design their
own survey. When the survey is completed the student will email it the intended people.
Closure: Describe how you will provide an opportunity for students to share work, ideas,
review, etc. (1-2 mins)
Once the survey is completed, the student will give a brief verbal summary of how easy
or difficult the survey was to create and if the survey gave the teacher insight to the

Reflect upon the challenges and describe how you addressed the challenges.
What would you do differently to make the lesson more effective in the future?
Next time I would make a quick hand out on the steps. Also, it would be beneficial to
review tips for picking questions to focus on one topic at a time.
