To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter to recommend Joana Ruiz for a teaching position. Joana was my Student Teacher for the spring semester of
th
2015. Once she joined my 5 grade class in January, Ms. Ruiz seamlessly became an active participant in the education of the
students in my classroom. She built an amazing rapport with not only my students, but the staff as well. She always exhibited a high
level of professionalism and had an amazing work ethic.
In class, I saw Ms. Ruiz incorporate her methods instruction into the lessons and activities she planned for my students. Her lessons
showed a strong grasp of grade level content and pedagogy. Ms. Ruiz planned a variety of whole group, as well as, small group
lessons. She differentiated her lessons to meet the various needs of my students. She created a positive class climate and designed
lessons that were engaging and motivating to all my students. Her lessons were differentiated to meet the various student groups,
such as English Language Learners and Gifted and Talented students. Students with special needs were also taken into consideration
and given extra help and support when needed.
For the last two quarters, Miss Ruiz has served as a long-term sub at my school site. She has learned how to set-up a classroom and
st
begin the school year. She has successfully collaborated with her 1 grade level team and has planned and implemented all aspects
of the curriculum. I believe this hands-on experience has made her a qualified candidate for a full-time position and know that the
students in her class have benefited from her presence this school year.
In my opinion, Joana would be an excellent candidate for any position, and any school that hires her would be lucky to add her to
their staff.
Sincerely,

Robyn Elsmore
