A number of speakers addressed the May council meeting against removing public
question time.
I dont think it is fair to scrap this, one speaker told the meeting.
But it was her second comment - If you take away public question time, you take
away the transparency upon which East Ward Councillor Dave Edwards called
a point of Order.
Another speaker said that public question time is the best avenue to get any action
from council, adding that he had had results from it in the past.
I dont understand why you are taking this away, he told the meeting.
Resident John Kowowsky told the meeting that having residents submit written
questions instead of speaking will deter them from participating as they may not
have access to email, and may not be confident with the formal process of a written
submission, adding that public question time allows councillors to catch issues that
they otherwise may miss.
Some things need to be in the public forum, he told the meeting.

What is their stance on GM

Dear Editor,
Linton Estate - Off to
VCAT, threats and all (MN
10 May)
It is good to see the bloody
arrogance of these selfcalled heroes of industry.
Here is one Steve Burgin,
Australian Securities and
Investment
commissionauthorised Senior Advisor
stating that VCAT WILL
decide in favour of his ideals
just because his organisation
is allegedly valued at $700
billion which will cost the
Council $100K.
Well Mr Bergin exactly how
long do you want the Council to bow to your arrogance
and allow your group and
others for that matter so you
can get your affairs in order?
Maybe you would like 18
years?
I can only hope that VCAT
reads the press to see how
these companies determine
the outcome of a hearing
before it has been heard because of their alleged value.
Bloody arrogance or just
thinking you are better than
anyone else.

The once clear waterway

Dear Editor,
Welcome to the Orwellian

When our governing bodies implement such charges
on our students as Hex Fees,

It was also claimed that his daughter sent him messages such as, I
just want you as part of my life,
and that Mr Hollis was only acting
like any father would in a situation
like that.
When deliberating about the case
Magistrate Caroline Gwynn said,
This is an unusual set of circumstances for a daughter to reach
out, and it sounds like a cry for
help from a daughter to her dad.
In her sentencing Magistrate Gwynn took into consideration that
Mr Hollis did not actively seek to
break the Intervention Order and
sentenced him to 50 hours of community work with $400 worth of
fines. Magistrate Gwynn concluded, Youve got a lot of stuff to sort
out or else youll be back here.

A special mention this week goes out to our Nev who gives up her

the running of the canteen during game times. The Bacchus Marsh

Dog of a day
for Blues
Ballan v Daylesford
Football
Seniors
A week is a long time in
football with the tide certainly turning for the Blues.
In ideal conditions the Blues
were in their element and at
the main break had a two
goal lead and looked to be
right in the challenge. It
was a tight tussle that was
certainly played in the best
spirits of the game but as
the game progressed the
Blues accuracy up forward
again became obvious. Jason McNamara gave a great
effort for the entire match
with Zac Peoples collecting four goals for the day.
Kenny was at his best in
the backline and Sam Sims
turned back the clock. But
in the final quarter the Blues
could only manage one-goal
four points with Daylesford
kicking seven majors to seal
the deal. A winnable game
that slipped away. The Blues
must now regroup for a key
tussle against Springbank in
a fortnight.
Final Score - Ballan 12 13
85 lost Daylesford 16 7 103
Best - J. McNamara, Z. Peoples, D. Tanti, D. Nielsen, S.
Sims, A. Speak.
The Reserves on the other
hand started very slowly
and at the main breakhad
a five goal deficit and a loss
appeared certain. But whatever happened at half time
it worked a treat. From that
point on the Dogs did not
score a goal and Blues were
on fire. Davide OHanlon
was on fire in the middle
and David Bell got his eye in
up forward. Jack Shaw gave
a committed effort all day
and whilst dented in the first
half he was on fire on the
way home.
Final Score - Ballan 11 9
75 def Daylesford 7 8 50
Best - L. Dickson, D.
OHanlon, J. Shaw, A. Bon-
gart, J. Fenwick.
In the Under 18s the Daylesford team forfeited at the
last hour.
With a mission in hand the
Under 15s were on fire. Jack
McGregor kicked 9 goals but
dont ask how many points;
he had plenty of helpers
including Under 12 players
Mac Popple and Jack Jarvis,
who both collected two majors each. Evan Shaw and
Lachlan Trickey were in
complete control in the centre to help record a resounding win.
Final Scores- Ballan 19 18
132 def Daylesford 0 1 1
Best - J. McGregor, E.
Shaw, L. Trickey, H. Lyle, J.
Monaghan, J. Jarvis.
The Under 12s had their
third win on the trot and
had the majority of the ball.
The Blues had plenty of winners all over the ground.
