BRABENEC ISSUES STATEMENT ON THE KIRYAS JOEL RAIDS

Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C,I-Deerpark) issues a statement following the FBI raids of Kiryas Joel

The evidence of possible sexual abuse that has resulted in the recent raids of Kiryas Joel
is deeply troubling. Children of any religious affiliation deserve to feel safe when attending
school, and any taxpayer-funded institution and its employees suspected of malfeasance will be
held accountable to the full extent of the law. Although no formal charges have been filed, the
initial reports indicate that Kiryas Joel is under serious federal investigation and members of the
community may be charged sometime in the near future. I stand with the FBI and local law
enforcement in getting to the bottom of these videos and I offer any assistance they require. I am
confident that justice will be served and those who have violated the law will face the
consequences.
