What Happens if I Fail a Course Needed for Graduation?


Seniors who fail a course or courses needed to fulfill graduation requirements will be contacted by their school
counselor and they will NOT be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 9, 2016.
The school counselor will discuss options for the senior to use to complete his/her high school graduation
requirements. Please contact your school counselor if you are unsure of your status for graduation.

ATTENDANCE APPEAL FORMS

FINAL TRANSCRIPT

Completed Attendance Appeal forms are due to Mrs. Alexander, our


attendance secretary, in the front office by Friday, May 20, or
Thursday, May 26.
All students will sign that they have turned in their forms.
Any form submitted after the final May 26 deadline will NOT be
accepted.
Note: It takes at least seven (7) days for an Attendance Appeal to be
processed.

Mrs. Victoria Jones, our school registrar, will send your final
transcript by U.S. Mail to the school that you indicated on
the Contact Information Card. Final transcripts will be
mailed during the week of June 13, 2016. Please allow
ample time for your postsecondary institution to receive
and process the transcript that is mailed on your behalf.

GRADUATION ATTIRE

All seniors MUST wear the 2016 Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology designated cap, gown, and tassel in order to
participate in the graduation ceremony. You are not permitted to decorate your cap or gown. If you lose any of these
items before the ceremony, you must pay to replace them. (See Mrs. Barnes-Parkins or contact Jostens if you still need
to order a cap and gown.)
When you are robed in your cap and gown, you must adhere to the following attire guidelines:
All gowns should be neatly steamed or pressed with a cool iron. (No Wrinkles)
Young men must wear dark dress pants, a collared dress shirt, necktie, socks, and dark dress shoes. You will not be
allowed to participate in the ceremony if you wear jeans, shorts, flip flops or tennis shoes.
Young ladies must wear dark dress slacks, a skirt, or dress with appropriate dark colored dress shoes. The dress or
skirt should not fall below the hemline of the gown. You will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony if you wear
jeans, shorts, flip flops, or tennis shoes.
All caps, without any decorations/messages, should be worn with the tassel to the right until the seniors are declared
graduates, at which time they will turn their tassel to the left.
You may wear academic cords and attach club pins to your hood, and you may only wear ONE stole.

SENIOR FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS


Seniors who owe fees must pay their financial obligations by noon on Thursday, May 26, 2016, in order to be eligible to
participate in the graduation ceremony. Seniors who have outstanding financial obligations are not permitted to participate in
the graduation ceremony. Remember the deadline is noon on Thursday, May 26, 2016.

The CMS Code of Conduct remains in effect through the remainder of the school year, including graduation day.

2. Turn RIGHT onto FREEDOM DRIVE/NC-27E. Continue to follow
FREEDOM DRIVE.
3. FREEDOM DRIVE becomes S. CLARKSON STREET.
4. Merge onto I-277/US-74E via the ramp on the LEFT.
5. Merge onto US-74E via EXIT 2B toward INDEPENDENCE BOULEVARD.
6. Bojangles Coliseum is on the right.

Rehearsal is mandatory!

Graduating seniors will report to Bojangles Coliseum


by 3 p.m. on graduation day.

Seniors will report to Bojangles Coliseum


by 1 p.m. for rehearsal.
Rehearsal is MANDATORY! Seniors who do not attend
rehearsal will NOT participate in the graduation ceremony. If you
are planning to participate in the graduation ceremony, you must
be at the rehearsal. This is a School Board policy. See Mrs.
Kennedy with questions.
Appropriate dress and behavior are required. Graduation
rehearsal is a CMS activity and CMS rules and policies apply
and will be enforced.

Students who owe fees will NOT be allowed to participate in the


graduation ceremony and will need to clear their financial obligation
before being allowed to receive their diploma.
All seniors participating in the ceremony MUST wear the school
designated cap and gown and wear appropriate footwear and
appropriate attire underneath the gown. Also, caps and gowns
should NOT be decorated in any way. Only school approved tassels,
cords, stoles, or pins are permitted.

Caps and gowns are not required for rehearsal. Do not bring
your cap and gown to rehearsal.

The graduation ceremony is a serious program, not a sporting event.


Appropriate participant and audience behavior is essential to
maintaining the dignity of the program. We ask that you show the
same respect to the other POB families and guests, as you expect
your peers and their guests to show you.

Seniors will report to Bojangles Coliseum by 1 p.m. and will


enter Bojangles Coliseum from the parking lot entrance.

Graduating seniors will receive their diploma cover on stage and


their actual diploma after the graduation ceremony.

Transportation to Bojangles Coliseum is NOT provided. Seniors


will need to make arrangements to get to and from the Coliseum.

Seniors are not permitted to chew gum during the ceremony.

Rehearsal is CLOSED to outside guests. Parent/Guardians,


children, siblings, etc., are not permitted to attend the rehearsal.
Do not bring electronic devices, such as iPads, iPods, etc., to
the rehearsal. Cell phones must be in the silent mode and out of
sight during the entire rehearsal. They are NOT to be used or
seen during the rehearsal. Earphones and headphones are not
to be worn or seen during the rehearsal.

No food or beverages are permitted in the Coliseum.

food or beverages are permitted in the Coliseum.
