Procedures (step by
step)

Anticipatory Set (Connection/Motivation) What will you do to get childrens

attention, or to introduce children to this learning activity? Describe the process
in getting them interested and engaged.
Sitting on the rug during circle time the teacher will ask the students question to
get the children engage in the topic
The teacher will ask the class questions like:
Instruction/Mini Lesson (Outline the procedures or sequence activities that will
make up this learning experience; for instance, you might follow a routine
wherein you model (I try); and ask for active involvement (we try) during a whole
group session.

Teacher will engage students in the topic with questions asked in

(Anticipatory Set)
Teacher will explain to children that not all families are the same.
By pointing out that not all children have both parents and grandparents
and that some children dont have siblings, cousins or aunts either, but
some children may.
Teacher will then ask children to count how many family members they
have.
Then the teacher will ask the students to go back to their table.
On the table the teacher will have a bucket with glue, scissors and
markers.
Teacher will go around with construction paper that will have outline leaves
and students will have to cut each leaf and write the name or draw a
picture of their family member.

Student will then have to glue leaves to a tree that has branches.
As the students work on this activity the teacher will walk around

When students are done gluing students will bring back the activity to the
rug.
Independent Practice (small group activity, working with partners, or
independently)

modifications

Supporting children
with identified delays
or disabilities
What considerations
should I keep in mind
regarding cultural
relevance, age
appropriateness, and
ability levels for all
learners?

The teacher should

keep in mind that
some students may
have a delay or
disability and
should try to adjust
the class by
providing the
students with more
attention or a TA to
scaffold the student
throughout the
task.

Supporting English Language Learners

What modifications should I make to the activity to
ensure all students are included and engaged in all
steps required to meet the lessons objectives?
Some of the modifications that teachers can do in
the classroom are
Provide clear and organized instruction in the
vocabulary that is used in class.
ELL children in class require multiple exposures
to new words so they can have a good
understanding of the meaning and use of the
words.
The teacher should arrange the classroom in a
way that she can keep an eye on all of her
students and be in close distance of the ELL
students.
Its best to incorporate ELL students language
in the classroom when possible.

worksheet of a
family tree for
disable students.
Follow up/Extension
activities

How can I provide an opportunity to remediate, reinforce, or expand on students

learning today in class?
For homework, I will ask the students to bring to class a picture of their family to
glue it onto to their tree in class.

observer to know
