To Whom It May Concern:

I am very glad to write a letter of recommendation for Adam Shaffer, whom you are
considering for an honorary scholarship. I was Adams English teacher during his freshmen
year at DuBois Area High School.
Adam is an intelligent, resourceful, and energetic student, who favorably impressed a
majority of his teachers at DuBois Area High School and who earned great respect,
admiration, and popularity among his student peers. While maintaining a high grade point
average throughout his high school career, he also became constructively involved in
numerous extracurricular activities, including soccer, football, and basketball. He held the
title of Captain of his soccer team. Adam has been active in the National Honor Society and
will graduate Suma Cum Laude with his class. He has been involved in multiple Blood Drives,
and community service acts such as litter pick-up and helping in a local nursing home. I
especially remember Adam for his ability to take leadership responsibilities in my class.
Adam is a motivated and hard working individual that has a strong sense of inner confidence
and is not afraid to accept the challenges that are offered throughout his academic
schedule.
During the four years that I have known Adam, I have been able to truly see him as a
caring, dedicated and responsible person. He is not afraid to accept leadership in any type
of project, and he is more than willing to step in and help anyone that is in need of
assistance. As an athlete, he understands the importance of being part of a team and does
more than his share. I have seen him balance school work, sports, and a part-time job
continually and he always proves to be successful in all that he sets his mind to do. His
sense of dedication and positive attitude is commendable.
I am confident that his responsible sense of character and ability to work hard will prove
to be of great value to any university and he would be an excellent candidate for a
scholarship that would assist in his academic achievement.
