Lesson: Chapter 4

Class: English 10

Teacher: Ms. Lowen

Block: C (12:25-1:40)

Purpose: Students will write a quiz on Chapter 3 and we will read Chapter 4 as a class. Students will
have a choice of creating a visual representation of either Bruno's homes (his own home in Berlin
and his new home in Auschwitz), or of the view of the concentration camp that he sees outside his
bedroom window and identify three examples/quotations from the text that they used to inform their
illustration.
TSWBAT (The Students Will Be Able To):
write a short quiz on the most important ideas from the chapter we read yesterday;
participate in a period of community reading while we read Chapter 4 together;
create a visual representation of one of the main settings in the novel and identify
examples from the text that they used to inform their illustration

from the text and be a relatively
accurate representation of the
quotations that were chosen.

I will prompt students to read

their silent reading novels if
they are finished early.
If all students finish the
assignment in class, we will start
reading Chapter 5

Students who finish early will

read silently.
