Artist’s Visual Journal: Gateway Canyons

Note: The instructor at the first class will collect an accessory materials fee of $5.00.

Materials & Supply List

Drawing Pencils: F or HB, 2B


Examples: Tombo, Berol Turquoise, Derwent, Staedtler

Pencil Sharpener: Battery operated or small hand operated

Erasers: Kneaded Eraser (grey), white rubber/plastic eraser

Drawing / Sketch Pad: Spiral bound pad with a hard cover 9” x 12” or smaller to fit into your daypack.
Suggested brands: Strathmore, Canson

For Personal Comfort:


Sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, sturdy walking shoes or hiking shoes/boots,
rain poncho, light jacket, water bottle, small shoulder bag or daypack.

Optional Items to Consider Bringing:


Waterbrush (holds fresh water within the handle – ‘Koi” or “Niji’) or a #2 or #4 synthetic paintbrush, small packable
container to carry ‘for art only’ water, a water-soluble graphite pencil, watercolor pencils, and a water-soluble/non-
permanent drawing ink pen (Uni-ball roller ball pens are fun and come in limited colors), your camera and binoculars.

participants with proof of registration. Bring your registration confirmation letter from the Botanic Gardens.
