therecognitionandexpressionof"deeplyembeddedlifeinterests",anaspectofthepsychologyofhuman
personalitythathasalongtraditionofempiricalresearch.Thisworkhasledtothedevelopmentofthree
psychometricinstruments:TheBusinessCareerInterestInventory,TheManagementandProfessionalReward
Profile,andtheManagementandProfessionalAbilitiesProfile.Inowworkfromadatabaseofthispsychological
testingonover75,000businessprofessionalsandMBAstudentsthathasbeengatheredasaconsequenceofmy
investigations.Myconcerninmuchofthisresearchasbeenwiththewayinwhichspecificworkrolesandbusiness
culturesallowfortherealizationofunderlyinginterestpatterns.ThisworkisongoingasIcontinuetoexplorethe
nuancesofthewaysinwhichindividualpersonalitydifferencesaffectthepursuitofsatisfyingwork.Iamcurrently
workingonseveralprojectsinthisarea,includinganinvestigationofcrossculturaldifferencesinbusinessrelated

fullnessofcognitioninitsaffective,rationalandbehavioraldimensions.Careersmaybeconceptualizedasa
reciprocalinteractionofimagination,narrativebuildingandenactment.Iaminterestedinanindividualscapacityto
generateimagesofmeaningfulwork,understandhowtheseimagescanbecomerealizedinthefullcontextofhisor
herlife,andmovetowardworkrolesandworkenvironmentswheretheseimagesmaybeenacted.Inregardtothis
