Why people quit their jobs?

Have you experience of quitting jobs? Nowadays, Youth unemployment rate is so high and in South
Korea (1), it reaches highest in 15 years. But some people quit their jobs. There is a Korean research
that 44% of Korean new employees quit their jobs in 1year. (2)
Why these situations occur so often? There are numerous reasons of quitting their jobs.
First, Employees quit their jobs to find another jobs.
1. Contract workers find new jobs because their job has expired. Especially Korea, There are so many
contract workers. They are not guaranteed about their job duration. If their contract fired, they will be
kicked by company. So workers want to get a regular job.
2. Small and medium sized business employees want to move to major and big company. Small
companys wage is a little bit short compared with major company. Wage is important to workers. And
welfare is also not good compared with major company. So many employees want to work in big and
major company.
3. Some employees dont want to do regular jobs.
Regular job doesnt give freedom to employees. All works are scheduled and employees have to work
from am 9:00 to pm 18:00 and there is also overtime. But free-lancer is different. Someone who
works as free-lancer, they dont have to work by schedule. They can work by their own mind. Freelancers work time is very flexible.

Second, Employees quit their jobs by private reasons.


When they feel their job is not fit on their aptitude, employees quit their jobs.
Human have different aptitude by each other. Aptitude is very important when they do their works. Also
I have experience of quit job because of aptitude. No matter how wage is high, work is totally different
with their aptitude, employees cant stand of it.
2. When works were completely doesnt fit to university major, employee quit their jobs.
People go to university and graduate university with one major degree. Sometimes job seekers get a
job which totally different with their university major. Why these situations occur? Nowadays get a job
is too difficult compared with 20 century. Many people are unemployed and they want whatever which
can bring them money. But problem is adaptation. Employees who work in totally different job make
adaptation error. Employees need to study about their job again from clean slate. It is absolutely
difficult and some employees quit their job by this reason.
3. When they go to graduate school, employees quit their jobs.

So many people go to university and get a bachelor degree. And many works need workers who have a
bachelor degree. So nowadays, bachelor degree is essential. But so many workers also go to graduate
school. When employees want to do more study of their major, or have an interest on another study,
they quit their company and go to graduate school.

Third, Problems occurred inside of company. There are so many reasons of problems (3)

1. If employees have trouble with senior, its very hard to keep staying in company.
Friendship with coworkers is very important in work place. So many people get a difficult about
friendship with coworkers. Especially they have a trouble with seniors of their company, it can bring big
problem. Some bullying occurs also in company. It is social problem. Many employees who have a
senior or bulled by senior or coworker stop their job.
2. When company does restricting, some employees quit jobs by forces.
There are so many types of works and because of economic problem, some works make restricting.
For example in Korea, Heavy industry is in danger. One company restricted 25% of their employees (4)
So many Heavy industry companies in Korea are doing restricting. They normally reduce workers wage.
And even they fire them also. One of my friends who work in Heavy industry company also get reduced
his wage and even he quit his job.
3. When wage has decreased, some employees quit their jobs.
Wage is very important to employees. Some research certificate it.(5) It depends on people that the
most important thing in job. But we cant ignore about wage. If wage has decreased by some problem
of company, many employees quit their jobs. It brings them frustrations.

Conclusion
To summarize, there are numerous reasons about quitting their jobs. We can see that employees
sometimes resign company by forces or sometimes resign company by themselves. And they quit their
jobs by public reason or by private reason. If someone quit their jobs, normally people think he or she
has a problem in company. Look that situation in negative perspective. But there are a number of
reasons and there are also not negative reasons like move to major company or going to graduate
school.
Opinion: Quitting jobs not always means that employees lost their jobs. It can be opportunity to move
to better place or better position also.
