Title of the lesson: A LEAP INTO THE MAGIC WORLD OF DOLPHINS
Textbook: CLICK ON 4, EXPRESS PUBLISHING
Aims: to encourage conversation and develop fluency
to develop speaking and listening skills(listening for specific information)
to practise comparatives and superlatives
Vocabulary: vocabulary connected to the environment, environmental problems,
conservation and endangered species
Skills involved: speaking, listening, writing, reading
Methods and proceedings: conversation, pair-work, group-work
Materials: blackboard, worksheets, over projector, course book
Assumptions: familiarity with vocabulary connected to the environment, environmental
problems, conservation and endangered species
Warmer: Chatting in English at the beginning of the lesson, T. creates an English
language atmosphere, establishing contact between her and the students and helps them
to feel relaxed.
ACTIVITY 1
Aims: to arouse interest and introduce the topic of the lesson
to develop creativity
Procedure:
Lead-in: Teacher checks the attendance and students homework. Students had to collect
information from various sources about three endangered species.
Students read their own answers. Teacher asks students to read the following qualities on
the over projectors screen: friendly, joyful, intelligent, curious, creative, faithful.
Teacher asks students to try to make a connection between these qualities and a mammal
which lives in the sea.
Students take turn to guess the animal and when they have guessed it, teacher announces
the title of the lesson: A Leap Into The Magic World Of Dolphins! and its objectives.

ACTIVITY 2
Aim:
To develop speaking and listening skills
Pre-listening:
Teacher tells the students that they are going to watch a documentary about
dolphins and asks them to read the text on the worksheet and try to fill in the missing
words. They have the missing words in the word box. If necessary, teacher clarifies any
unknown vocabulary.
Interaction: T-Ss., T-S.
Timing: 5 minutes
While - listening:
In pairs, students are asked to watch the video and check if they have
completed correctly the missing words. If necessary, teacher plays the video again.
Interaction: T-Ss., S-S., PW.
Timing: 10minutes
Post-listening:
Teacher engages students to reflect upon the documentary and answer the
questions from exercise III on their worksheets:

Which is the most intelligent and easiest to train dolphin?
Which is the largest dolphin?
How many correct answers did the dolphin in our documentary provide?

We have seen in the video that dolphins are in great danger nowadays. Why?

Teacher encourages students to express their own opinion about the last
question and come up with as many solutions as possible.

ACTIVITY 3
Aim: to practice comparatives and superlatives.
Procedure:
In pairs students are requested to identify in the text eight adjectives in the
superlative and three adjectives in the comparative. Students find the adjectives and put
them down in their notebooks.
Teacher asks students to watch a PowerPoint presentation and reminds them
some rules about the way we form comparative and superlative of one or two syllable
adjectives and also irregular adjectives.
Students are requested to complete the table they have in their course books
at page 74.
Students do the task and the teacher checks their answers
They are requested to complete the sentences from exercise 15/74 with the
correct form of the adjectives in brackets.
Students complete the exercise
Teacher checks students answers.

Timing: 15 minutes
Teacher announces the homework: Students are requested to collect information about
our continent and find out about the highest mountain, the longest river, the largest
population, etc. and to present it to the class.
