As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:
Repeat learned information from Tuesday prayer lesson such as what is prayer, purpose of prayer, why
people pray, types of prayer etc.
Outline key points of The Lords Prayer and answer corresponding questions on The Lords Prayer
Worksheet (Appendix 1)
Construct own prayer using learned information from Prayer Hand activity.
Teachers Prior Preparation/Organisation:
Observation of prior Christian Studies lessons
Liaise with Mentor approximately 2 days before
scheduled lesson to allow for editing and improvement
of lesson plan if necessary.
The Lords Prayer Worksheet (Appendix 1) has been
copied to accommodate from all students: 23 students
Prayer Hand (Appendix 1) has been copied to
LESSON DELIVERY (attach worksheets, examples, marking key, etc, as relevant)

Lesson Steps
Teacher to give out The Lords Prayer Worksheet (Appendix 1) one to each
students.

Appendix 3
Teacher and students move through work sheet going line by line of The Lords
Prayer.
**Teacher to facilitate discussion while students write entries into worksheet**
Discussion:
Parts of The Lords Prayer as representing the different ways and reasons to
pray

Teacher to hand out Prayer Hand (Appendix 1) and Decorated Prayer Blank
(Appendix 2) to one to each student.
Prayer Hand Task:
Teacher to discuss function of Prayer Hand to know what to pray about,
the parts of prayer as representing the different ways and reasons to pray.
Students label each finger (see below)
Thumb: Closest to you, loved ones Closest to heart
Pointer: Teachers and instructor Pointing, telling people what to
do, giving us guidance
Middle: Leaders Tallest/highest people in society
Ring: People that are week (mental, physical), sick and in pain
Weakest finger
Pinkie: Yourself
Students then comment on why they might pray to each.
Decorated Prayer Blank Task:
Students choose 2-3 fingers to write a prayer about.
Students to include prayer features: Dear Father and Amen etc.

Objective 1:
Repeat learned information from Tuesday prayer lesson such as what is
prayer, purpose of prayer, why people pray, types of prayer etc.
To meet objective, students verbally relay prior knowledge of topic of prayer.
Objective to be judged by verbal assessment.
Objective 2:
Outline key points of The Lords Prayer and answer corresponding
questions on The Lords Prayer Worksheet (Appendix 1)
To meet objective, students will complete The Lords Prayer Worksheet
(Appendix 1). Students will also participate in class discussion on topic.
Objective to be judged by verbal and written assessment of class discussion and
worksheet.
Objective 3:
Construct own prayer using learned information from Prayer Hand
activity.
To meet objective, students will create an original prayer using the Decorated
Prayer Blank (Appendix 2). Students will use information learned in the Prayer
Hand (Appendix 1) activity. Objective to be judged by assessment of student
prayers.
