Initially, it is with an enormous satisfaction that I apply for the 2016/2017

master program in International Business Law at _______.

Secondly, Id like to briefly introduce myself. My name is Beatriz Vargas Silva,

Im Brazilian, I live in /SP, Im 27 years old, graduated in Law with fluent English
acquired in my bilingual alphabetization.

My interest in International Law began at college, in a group study of JESSUP

simulations and International Law lectures that I assisted on the preparation of classes,
responsible for my first contact with international matters, concepts and scholars.

Otherwise, my interest in Tax Law started in my internship at a public

organization defending Brazilian public Tax Law issues. When I graduated, I worked in a
Law office and I realized how international operations merged with Tax Law were unique
and how much I enjoyed it. That was when I made the decision to deepen my studies and
professional projects towards international negotiation.

Afterwards, I worked in Ernst & Young (EY) for three years, where I learned
another point of view of taxation, the consulting / auditing aspects, such as calculations

of taxes. Ive also had the opportunity to make a job rotation for better understanding of
Brazilian State VAT, International Tax, Labor and Social Security Taxation as well as
Customs and Global Trade Services.

My interest in ___ involves 3 spheres: professional, academic and personal. For

instance, in a professional matter, an overseas experience is very well recognized and
admired all over the world, since you must have to deal with constant differences,
becoming more sympathetic person to many points of view, an independent decisionmaker, flexible and better prepared for the instabilities of the corporate world.
Therefore, I believe that with this opportunity I could have new employment
opportunities and in higher positions.

Academically speaking, I will be able to contribute with my prior academic and

professional experience, furthermore be able to learn intensely about European Tax Law
and European Business Law, which I am certain the present course can offer me faultless
learnings.

Moreover, personally I adore having access to different cultures, languages and

making new friends. In 2011, I did an exchange program to Italy to enhance my Italian
language studies. I grew a lot as a person likewise absorbed many different views with
the opportunity. Imagine the wonders a master degree in another country could make
seems very fascinating. In this way, the possibility to have another exchange of culture
and the opportunity of growth for me is very thrilling.

At last, the most astonishing about the opportunity to study at the UCLy is that
Ill be able to maintain my passions: trainings of taekwondo and dancing classes with
different techniques while studying the master program and earn an immeasurable
evolution in every aspect of my life.

I am highly aware of the outstanding reputation of the university on the 100

best Universities in Europe ranking and your excellent teaching staff, which served to
deepen my interest in attending.
