Pictures with typical objects studied;
Image and / or words cards typically small pieces of furniture;
A CD with songs about the components of a house.

Introduction:
In this lesson, students will be introduced to or review vocabulary for
homes and furniture. Then they will watch a grammar video and play games to
focus on prepositions of place and items of furniture. Finally they will do a project
inventing their ideal room or creating a class house!

Procedure:

Draw a picture of a house on the board.

elicit what students know about houses,

about where they live, for example is it a
house or a flat, how many rooms, what
floor, etc.

rooms of the house, you might like to play
the rooms hangman game with your
students to review and practise them.

Time: 50 mins - 1 hour


Objectives: Students will be able to identify that families have different sizes
and structures, students will be able to identify similarities in the families, talking
about family members.

Activity: Song family finger play, creating a graph of each students family size
and composition

Vocab: Mother, father, sister, brother, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle,


cousin

Didactic materials: Exercise book;


Chart papers, glue stick, paper symbols
Pictures with family members and their activitit;
A CD with songs about family members and their activitit.

Teacher preparation: The teacher cut paper symbols out of glaze paper or
any other colored paper (even old magazine pages would do) that represent a
boy, a girl, an adult male and an adult female. Prepare simbols as many as
possible. Prepare a chart paper sheet large enough to cover the nams of you
students for a bar graph.

board. Ask the children if they think all
the families in the pictures are the same

different in size; they are also composed

a boy, a girl, an adult male and an adult
female.
Display the chart paper.
Then ask each student to count the
member in his/her family including grand
parents if any or aunts and choose the
symbols.

paper to make a graph. Help the students
in doing so.
