Key Advantages of MIMO:

Increased reliability obtained through diversity.

Higher data rate obtained through spatial
multiplexing.

STBC (SPACE-TIME BLOCK CODES)

The spacetime (ST) coding is more bandwidth-efficient
coding scheme ---->transmits an information symbol block in
a different order from each antenna.
The diverse copies of the data transmitted are received with
multiple receiving antennas.
All the copies of the received signal are combined in an
optimal way to extract information from each of them.

STBC (SPACE-TIME BLOCK CODES)

Space-Time coded MIMO system

OBJECTIVE
This presentation describes different spacetime coding
schemes and analyses their performance in Rayleigh fading.
The focus of attention is mainly on BER (Bit error rate)
performance of different modulation schemes for various
STBC in Rayleigh fading channel is compared & analysed.

RESULTS
BER performance for QPSK with STBC (3 4), Alamouti (2 2),
and Alamouti (2 1)

RESULTS
BER performance for 8-PSK with STBC (3 4), Alamouti (2 2),
and Alamouti (2 1)

RESULTS
BER performance for 16-QAM with STBC (3 4), Alamouti (2 2),
and Alamouti (2 1)

BER performance
of STBC (3 4) is
better than
Alamouti 2 2 &
Alamouti 2 1.

CONCLUSION
Performance of applying STBC in the MIMO system is investigated
over different modulations in faded environment.
The 3 x 4 space time block coded MIMO has more spatial diversity for
increase the performance system.
STBC with lower modulation order always give low BER, when
compared with STBC that employ higher order modulation techniques
so in 8- PSK, SNR is higher than QPSK and BPSK for the same BER.
It is also analyzed that by increasing number of antennas, BER
performance will be improved so different number of antenna at the
transmitter and receiver side can be chosen so that the diversity gain
will be maximum.
