Fr. Zoufals Farewell Mass and Reception.

We invite all everyone to attend a special Mass with
our pastor, Fr. Michel Zoufal, Sunday, June 19th at
9:00 or 10:30 a.m. and a reception in Rogers Hall
after each Mass.
This will be Fathers last Sunday at St. Alberts and
only opportunity for us to personally thank Father
Michael for 5 years of hard work, and exceptional
dedication to the St. Albert the Great Parish. May Our
Good Lord Always Bless and Protect Him.
We will have a farewell receptions for Fr. Anthony Brooks and
Fr. Marcin Szczypula the weekend off June 25/26. More
information will be available next week.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

What is RCIA? RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and it is the process through
which personsadults 18 years of age or olderjoin or complete their initiation into the Catholic
Church. For additional information please contact Deacon Pete Manning, Coordinator of Religious Education for St. Albert the Great Parish at 708 636-0406.
The RCIA is for three groups of people:
Is The RCIA for me?
1. Those who are not baptized
2. Those who were baptized into another Christian denomination and wish to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church.
3. Baptized Catholics who were never formed in the Catholic faith and have not completed their initiation; that is, who have never received the sacraments of Confirmation and or Eucharist.
How does the RCIA Work? RCIA consist of four periods of formation which are marked by rituals that
celebrate what has been completed and call a person into the next phase. There is no specific length of
time for each period. The RCIA is a journey which gives a person time for prayer, study, and conversation so as to hear the Word of God and embrace the call to discipleship and holiness. The stages are as
follows.
The Inquiry or Precatechumenate / The Catechumenate / The Lenten period of purification and
Enlightenment / Mystagogy or a time of deeper understanding of the mysteries

FATHERS DAY REMEMBRANCE ENVELOPES

Fathers Day Remembrance envelopes are available on the ushers table for those of you who wish to
have their fathers (living or deceased) remembered on Saturday, June 18 and at all the Masses on
Sunday, June 19. Please, place your donation, along with the envelope , during any Sunday collection.

HOPE AND FORGIVENESS

There were some interesting conceptions of sin
prevalent in the time of the Hebrew scriptures. There
was the belief that God punished sin immediately.
Those who suffered disease or misfortune were,
therefore, sinners getting their due from the Almighty.
Todays first reading hints at another kind of
God. When David admits his sin, Nathan declares,
The LORD on his part has forgiven your sin (2
Samuel 12:13b). Here was not a vengeful God but a
merciful God. What good news that must have been to
David and those who, like him, could be honest
enough to admit their sinfulness!
Jesus is the good news of Gods mercy and
forgiveness incarnate. Without Jesus, perhaps the good
news would have been too good to believe, too
difficult to imagine. But there he is in todays Gospel,
the God-man, forgiving a sinner and declaring that she
is forgiven because of her great love.
There is hope, then, for the rest of us sinners, if
only we love enough!
