Description:
This course/program is designed to give first year students to the
meneMAC program an in-depth hands-on opportunities in digital media
productions. Students will learn and orient themselves with the basics
of different types of media. The course will build students
understanding of creativity, video production, leadership and
responsibility. Students are expected to produce pieces that display
ones creativity, video techniques, and group collaboration.
Assignments
This is a production class and many of the major assignments will be to
produce short films, PSAs, and other videos. There will be many
supplemental assignments throughout the course that will provide
training for each student and as a way of improving on software skills,
camera work, and editing skills. Students will at times be able to work
within groups to complete assignments but there will be individual
assignments as well as final exams for all students.
Competitions
There will be opportunities for students to participate in competitions.
If a student chooses to or is chosen to compete this may require time
to be spent in the classroom outside of regular classroom time.
Although it can be time consuming, the end result for the student,
group or class is highly rewarding and can only benefit those involved.
Supplies needed
At least one 16g or larger SD card (preferably SanDisk Class 10,
45mb reading/writing speed). This is for student use and will be
not be kept by teacher.
At least one 8-pack of AA batteries
Recommended Equipment for Students to have
Canon DSLR camera (t3 or higher)**
Canon handheld camera if DSLR cameras are not an option
Adobe Premeire Editing Software
Laptop (Macbook pro preferred but not required)
Personal tripod

Grading
Grading will be based on not only completion but also quality of video
assignments and projects that are turned in. Progress will be assessed
throughout the quarter in practice exercises and assignments. The
teacher and classmates will provide feedback.
Because this is a production class letter grades will be based on
attainment of scores on projects with certain projects weighted more
than others.
Grade Equivalents
A = 90%-100%
B = 80%-89%
C = 70%-79%
D = 60%-69%
F = 50%-59%
LATE ASSIGNMENT POLICY: Turning in assignments/assessments
late will result in a 10% deduction. Because this is a production-based
class, many of the projects and assignments turn-ins need to meet a
certain deadline in order for the class to continue operating.
Attendance
Attendance Policy (as specified in MOHS School Rules & Regulations)
Special Note for Media Communications: Attendance is especially important in this
class. Media production teams are working with an intense and demanding
schedule and teams depend on each member to fulfill his/her responsibility in order
for the team to maintain its production schedule. Due to the nature of media
production work, time lost to may need to be made up by work class during nonschool hours.
Equipment:
Because video production is the focus borrowing equipment is
necessary. All students are responsible for whatever equipment is
checked-in and out of the classroom. Students are responsible to return
the equipment before school on the due date and that they are
financially responsible for any damage to or loss of equipment due to
improper or careless use. Signing the syllabus is accepting the
responsibility commitment.

5. The MeneMac program is program is a family, treat everyone
with respect and with the best intentions.

Rules:
1. ALL food and food containers are to be disposed in the trashcan
OUTSIDE of G-201; NEVER in the classroom. NO EATING ON
COMPUTER DESKS.
2. No inappropriate use of cellphones allowed during teacher
instruction.
3. NO gum chewing
4. No use of inappropriate language.
