Our 6th Annual Garage
Sale to benefit Bright
Horizons, a local agency
to support victims of
domestic violence, will
be held in the Fellowship
Hall on July 8th from
9am-6pm. Please
consider supporting
Bright Horizons as you're
doing your Spring cleaning. We will be taking
donations for the sale on July 6 from 12-7pm
and July 7 from 9am-12pm in the Fellowship
Hall. We will graciously accept any of your
gently used items, except adult clothing. This
annual event has become very popular in the
community, and your continued support has
been a huge factor in that. The Garage Sale is a
tremendous fundraiser for Bright Horizons and
they rely on these funds every year to keep
their doors open. Supporting this event is
fulfilling our mission of Loving God...Loving
People...Reaching Out!

Transform your kids' summer into an

unforgettable faith adventure with the
Sparkhouse 12-Week Summer Bible
Story Reading Plan. Every week kids will
explore a Bible story through art, cooking,
coloring, and other fun activities. The
journey continues this week with the 2nd
packet JOSEPH.
Packets are available on the table at the
back of the sanctuary.

HERE WE GO AGAIN! VBS 2016

A great part of the success of last years
VBS was due to the generous donations
we were able to collect. This year again
we will need many things donated and
borrowed. Food items for suppers will be
collected next month (July).
Borrowed:
Large wicker or reed baskets
10x10 canopy
Ferns, greenery
Ice cream buckets
Wading pool
Hula hoops
Large piece of plywood (4x8)
Large wheelbarrow (sturdy enough
to carry a kid)
Donated:
Bale of straw
Bags of garden soil or topsoil
Clear packing tape
(Commercial grade)
Old towels
Brown paper grocery bags
Paper towels
Toilet paper (for wrapping mummies)

If you would like to recycle some of the

larger cottage cheese containers, we would
love to help you do that! The deeper
containers work well with flowers that are
removed from the altar vases and delivered
to shut-ins. Bring any donations to the
church office and THANK YOU!

SAVE THE DATE:

Sunday, September 11TH
GODS WORK, OUR HANDS
Community Day of Service
St. Johns will join other ELCA churches
across the U.S. again this year in Gods Work
Our Hands Sunday. With the date of the
event this year on 9-11, the ELCA is
encouraging churches to reach out to and
thank first responders in their communities
(Law Enforcement, Firefighters) for all they
do each & every day in service to us.
We will model the day as we did last year; A
variety of mission projects will be available
to sign up to help with on Sept. 11th. The
projects will be both inside and outside, with
projects suitable for all ages to make it easy
for everyone to be involved. More than 100
people from St. Johns participated in this
event last year. Lets make this year even
better!!
Yellow T-Shirts will be available to buy
soon. Price of the shirt is $10 and will be
available to purchase until August 7.

The Garden Club

continues to keep
St. Johns looking
beautiful through
tidy-up gatherings and a watering
schedule. This labor of love is a visual
and aesthetic benefit to us all! You can
help, too, by your donations to continued
replacement and upkeep.
Thank you for your help!

Have you seen Joseph?

Rumor has it that
his brothers sold
him into slavery and
hes ended up in
Egypt. By an
incredible twist of
fate, hes become
second in command
to Pharoah! If you (or someone you
think would be perfect for the task) would
like to impersonate this dreaminterpreting fellow for five days starting
on Sunday, July 31, please contact
Jolene as soon as possible.
