Andy, Happy 28th birthday in heaven. This is
the first one without you here to celebrate. We
miss you like crazy and wish we could bring you
back to us. Andy, we just want to hug you so
tight and never let you go. Life is not the same
without you. Your beautiful smile is missed by
everyone. Last year, I gave you your gifts, plus a
big bottle of Tide because Payton said you needed more! I can still hear your laughter along with
Payton's. Your little girl is missing you so much.
What we would do to have you here with us to celebrate and blow out your birthday candles. We will be celebrating with you on Thursday, June 23, with balloons
and cake and sending you hugs and kisses. We love you with all of our hearts and
will miss you till we meet in heaven. Happy Birthday, Our Angel, Andy.

New Jersey Audubon (NJA) has created a grant program focusing on soil and
water conservation within four main focal
areas in southern New Jersey. Farmers
and producers of the Greater Hammonton
area, Maurice and Upper Cohansey
Rivers, Upper Salem River area, and the
western Cape May Peninsula are eligible
to receive funding for projects addressing
resource concerns on their property. This
grant program is supported by the
William Penn Foundation and the
National Fish and Wildlife Foundation
and has the goal of protecting and conserving the regions chief source of freshwater, the Kirkwood-Cohansey Aquifer.
The Kirkwood-Cohansey aquifer supplies 35 billion gallons of clean water to
South Jersey residents annually. The
aquifer spans a third of the state and
underlies part of every county in South
Jersey, with 65 percent of water consumed going to the public water supply
and much of the remainder to agricultural
irrigation. When combined with technical
and financial assistance programs from
the Natural Resources Conservation
Service (NRCS), NJAs grants offset the
costs associated with a number of practices that build or preserve soil health,
conserve water, and protect water quality.
A large amount of irrigation water is
often lost to runoff, wind, and evaporation. By simply updating an irrigation system, a farm can bring its irrigation water
use efficiency from 55 percent up to 85
percent. Farmers can employ irrigation
water management by using special sensors to detect soil moisture levels to support more targeted water delivery, further
conserving water resources. A new irrigation systems fuel efficiency is often much
better than the old system, leading to significant cost savings on fuel as well.
NJA also offers funding for riparian
buffers to separate cropland from wetlands. Native grasses, shrubs, and trees
intercept runoff from crop fields, removing sediment and chemicals that would

from participating in pageants, such as the

grow the program. There are a lot of girls
who dont know it even exists.
There are six age groups, entry is free,
and this years pageants drew 21 contestants to Notre Dame High School. They
wore evening gowns, sat for interviews
with the judges and had the option of performing a talent. Howerton performed
sign language to the song I Wont Give

Every Miss Amazing contestant gets a
crown, but only one advances to the
nationals. That honor already has changed
Rylee.
The difference with her coming out of
her shell since December is amazing,
Rylees mom reports. My biggest hope is
that this whole experience helps to further her socially, and to show her that she
has potential, just like everyone else. That
really is my purpose.
Its working. Rylee has been out talking
to people in her community, and has
received praise for her efforts in preparing
for the pageant.

Corning Pharmaceutical Glass
Approved for Grow NJ Award
The New Jersey Economic
Development Authority (EDA) recently
voted to approve a 10-year, $8.3 million
Grow NJ award for Corning
Pharmaceutical Glass LLC located in
Vineland. The EDA administers the legislatively-created Grow NJ program, the primary program for job creation under the
Economic Opportunity Act (EOA) of 2013.
Corning Pharmaceutical Glass is a
world-leading supplier of high-quality
glass tubing to the pharmaceutical packaging industry. The company manufactures a
variety of clear and amber borosilicate
glass tubing, which is converted by their
global customers into vials, cartridges,
ampules, and syringes for drug storage and
delivery. The Grow NJ award will encourage Corning to invest in Vineland, where it
employs 185 full-time positions, and will
yield a net benefit of $20.4 million back to
the state over a 20-year period.
Cornings Vineland facility was
acquired as part of a recent deal with
Gerresheimer AG. As part of the deal,
Corning and Gerresheimer also formed an
equity venture to focus on accelerating
Corning innovations for the pharmaceutical glass packaging market.

On Saturday, May 14, the Youth Alliance program, a faith-based nonprofit organization based
in Vineland, presented Jack Martine (pictured,
top) with the first-ever Legend Award in the memory of the late Michael Lopergolo, Jr.
Lopergolo, a self-directed business man whose
strong work ethic and passion for people, cooking
and animals allowed him to touch the lives of
many, passed away in December 2015 at 78 years
old. Described as a humble man by the many who
knew him, the Philadelphia native devoted much
of his time to those in need and was admired by
many in the region as a mentor.
My dad would never say no if someone asked
for help, says Terry Lopergolo-Carpenter, the oldest of Lopergolos six children. He was a backstage person that everyone needed, but everyone
didnt know.
Following this years initial presentation, the
Legend Award will be given out annually to someone that embodies the same selfless qualities that
made Lopergolo a hero to many.
Martine, head basketball coach for Vineland
High School, works at Veterans Memorial School
in Vineland as a math teacher. For more than 20
years he has married his love for basketballas
both a player and coachwith his desire to
inspire others. Emphasizing the importance of
discipline, respect and learning to his players, on
and off the court, Martine has touched the lives of
hundreds of athletes.
Jack is a great guy, says Pastor Preston Centuolo, founder of the Youth
Alliance. You dont get better than Jack Martine.
Pastor Centuolo has had the pleasure of working with both Lopergolo and
Martine and describes them both as dedicated and passionate role models.
Martine was given the inaugural Legend Award at the 17th annual Got Game
3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, hosted by the Youth Alliance in Vineland.
Hundreds came together to support the players while enjoying a day of camaraderie, music and basketball.
Since it was the first time the Legend Award was given out, the Youth Alliance
presented a special commemorative copy of the plaque to Donna Lopergolo
(pictured, bottom), wife of the late Mike Lopergolo, Jr.
