TDT1 Task 3 Part A

Purpose of Multimedia Project

For this project, I created a movie titled Camera Movement. This movie is intended
to supplement instruction in my Film Studies class, during the unit on cinematography. One
of the objectives of the course is that students will be able to identify various types of camera
movement as they watch a film. This movie gives visual examples of what some of those
movements look like, and would be shown after students had taken notes.
Learning Objectives
The learning objectives this multimedia product about camera movement will help
students achieve proficiency for are:
1. Students will correctly describe at least ten camera movements they observe while

watching a cinematography award-winning film as evidenced by the completion of an

observation log (Appendix A).
2. Given a list of all the camera movements, students will correctly recall and explain

the common use of two as evidenced by a short response.

3.

While watching a cinematography award-winning film, students will correctly

explain how the film aligns or deviates from the common use of two camera
movements as evidenced by a short response.
Audience
The instructional setting is a Title 1 high school. The content area these

graphics are intended for is Film Studies, which consists of film appreciation through the
study and analyzation of films for a fine arts credit. The average class size is 35 students and
is a mix of 9th-12th grade students.

Software
The software used to record the movie was the camera installed directly into my
Android phone, as well as the Android Voice Recorder. One of the reasons I used this
software is to demonstrate to students what they can create using their own mobile devices,
especially since they will have the option throughout the Film Studies class to occasionally
submit films they create. To edit the film, I used the Windows Live Movie Maker. This
software is free to use, and once again great to demonstrate to students what they can do with
no budget.
Process
Step 1: Plan your film. Storyboard or script what you would like to do. Include different
segments, camera angles, frame lengths, and movements in your planning.
Step 2: Record the different segments.
Step 3: Upload all video segments to Windows Live Movie Maker.
Step 4: If using separate audio tracks, upload those as music. Make sure to mark the actual
video sound as muted so you dont have overlapping sound.
Step 5: To trim a video segment, under editing tools, select to split the film, and then right
click unwanted segments and select remove.
Step 6: Add in titles, captions, credits and transitions using the appropriate tools in the
program. You can edit length of these by changing the duration under editing tools.
Step 7: Save the movie in the format of your choice. I use the recommended setting.
Step 8: Upload movie to YouTube for sharing (you must have a YouTube account).

2) Write a brief description of what was happening in the movie for your
