The Software is unable to extend one or more faces along the path of the
fillet giving somewhere for the fillet to end.
The fillet is too large for the geometry. It might be just a small portion of
the fillet path, but it will still cause the feature to fail.
There is hope!
We now know that fillet fail because they need better faces to works with.
Luckily, there are a few different techniques we can use to give SOLIDWORKS
new faces to help terminate tricky fillet.
Fail Point
Tangent propagation ON
Face Fillet
Because of the small Sliver faces close to the corner, a standard fillet does
not work correctly
Desired Result
Face Fillet
The face fillet tool can bridge these small faces by applying the fillet between
two faces, instead of an edge.
Zero-Thickness Geometry
From time to time you may have received one of these error messages in
SOLIDWORKS
Unable to create this feature because it would result in zero-thickness
geometry.
Vertices where zero-thickness
geometry is located
Edge where zero-thickness
geometry is located
