Part II: Reflection

CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?
This field experience consisted simply of introducing my 5th grade students to the basic skills of
using a chrome book. Through this field experience I was able to show my students how to use the
touch screen to manipulate the computer as well as, work with Microsoft word. Through this field
experience I learned that most of the students had tablets and other devices like chrome books at
home. However, there were some students who had never used one or been exposed to the latest
technology.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
To begin this field experience, I had to understand that some of my students may not have ever
been exposed to a chrome book. I had to know the best strategy to use that would help the students
understand the process and use of manipulating a chrome book using these tools. I had to make the
learning process positive and fun for the students, in order to help them successfully gain the skills
needed to understand the mechanics of computer use. I was able to show my students the benefits
of using a chrome book while having fun at the same time.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?
This field experience allowed me to share my strategies with fellow colleagues who were in the
process of introducing their own students to basic computer skills as well. I was able to share my
experiences with the colleagues and discuss the best strategy for teaching basic computer skills
with their own students. This field experience helped the students become successful in
manipulating a computer and learning how to use the computer to enhance their learning skills.
